Well it looks like ammo is starting to be more available. Prices are still relatively high but there are deals to be had.

An important part of getting a good deal is knowing what the price point of a good deal is. Also, if we stay up-to-date on what a good deal is we can help to drive prices down.

With that in mind what are you currently paying for ammo? Be specific, brand, bullet type etc.

I know ammo sources is confidential information these days so if you don’t want to specify where you purchased it at least mention whether it was purchased locally or online.

If you reload, mention what you have recently paid for components.

Please keep this to recent purchases. What you paid for ammo 2 years ago is irrelevant to this conversation.

Also, please no bashing on what someone paid or their ammo choices. The point of this thread is to get an idea of some of the deals to be had and perhaps help in driving prices down.

I’ll start…
I recently purchased a case (500 rounds) of Tula .45ACP 230GR FMJ online for $167.00 shipped.

Local Ammo: Way too pricey, $1 a round for off-brand 30.06 ammo and ridiculous prices
on handgun ammo.

I don't own a rifle but I do buy a lot of other ammo. The .22 mag has stayed at about $10-13 for a box of 50 (CCI seems to be the more expensive) The Winchester 9mm range bulk pk of 100 rnds is still selling at $23 at Walmart. The Winchester .380acp at $17-20 (50 rnd) at local gun shops. (never seem to get them at Walmart). Same price for .38 spec but it seems to be slowly going up. And I haven't bought enough shotgun shells lately to know what it's selling for.

Local Reloading components: Jerry's Gun Shop Ambrose, GA

Powder: Pricey--- Good supply.

Bullets: Pricey --- supply-- limited.

Primers :pricey--- few and far between.

Guns: Rifles, shotguns and Pistols --- good supply--- Best prices around!

BS: Plentiful--- well worth expense!

I bought 250 rounds of UMC 130 gr 38 special at Gander Mtn. for $99.00 this past Friday.
I also bought a couple of months ago 250 rounds of .380 Wnchester White Box for $155.00 on a GunBroker auction.
Ran across six boxes of Federal blue box 100 grain .243 for 13.97 at Wally World.
Bought four only because that's what they limited me to.
Went back four hours later to buy the other two but they were already gone.

Wal Mart 22LR bulk pack=$14-$17.

Reloading.
Powder about $15 a pound.
I just received 10,000 primers from Powder Valley that I ordered last April. When you order (back order) the price isn't set in stone, so I expected to have to pay pushing $30 a thousand. They charged me $24 a thousand.:)

My center fire reloads run about $2.00 to $4.00 a box. Maybe a little more if I'm using a high price bullet.

I reload any centerfire caliber I shoot regularly: factory ammo is just TOO expensive.

Case in point, .38 special is about $20/box, .45ACP about $25/box. That's $0.40 and $0.50/round. I'll shoot 100 rounds of each every week. If I were buying from the store, that's $360 in ammo a month!

I can buy components today and reload either caliber for about $0.15/round (I have stockpiles which cost me less, so my actual cost is even lower). Monthly cost is $120. That's an annual savings of $2880!!! That's far more than the cost of the press, and I haven't even counted rifle rounds yet. I even factored the cost of my time (used my billing rate from work), and it still saves me money.

I don't stockpile a lot of primers or powder. Many places (including MA) have limits to how much you can store, but since the cost of powder and primer per round are minor compared to the cost of bullets and brass (especially in pistol rounds), fluctuations in prices don't affect the overall cost of the round too badly. Instead I focus on stockpiling bullets and brass. I keep my eyes pealed for deals and order bullets in bulk, and my brass is all free from the range (I try to bring home 110% of the brass I shoot at the range - the approach seems to keeps me well stocked, and I don't waste too much time hunting for brass).

Also, .22LR conversion kits (1911 and AR-15) are worth their weight in gold.

Gun show earlier this month. PMC 9mm ammo. $215.99 for a case of 1,000. Tax added about $10 to that. I like PMC Bronze ammo for the range so I was very happy to find it in this price range.

I still occasionally see Federal Champion 9mm at Walmart for $9.47 a box of 50 rounds and that shoots fine in my Glock G 26 as well. But Walmart imposes a 6 box limit per day so it takes a lot of trips (and gasoline) to get any sort of stock for the amount of time I spend at the range.

Likewise, Walmart occasionally has Winchester White Box for $11.47 per box of 50.

Sorry to say that I just paid $29 for a box of 20 CorBon .32 ACP's at our local gun store for my wife's new CC.:cuss:

I'm in mASSachusetts...

I spied 9mm Blazers in the gun shop for $14.99 last week.
I reload and plated Berry's 9mm 115gr are $89
CCI Small Pistol Primers $34.99
Win209 Primers $44.95 in one shop $37.95 in another.
Dicks REM Gun Club 12ga shotshell Target Loads $8.98 for 25.
Walmart 12ga Sluggers $8.96 for 15. 00-buck $12.97 for 15.
Windjammer 12100 wads $8.95 for 500 at a local shop.

Prices are all over the place depending on availability and the store.

I won't buy ammo if it is eithert higher than I can get at Walmart or twice what it costs to roll my own.

My brother in law has a birthday coming up so i went to Wally World. They had Fed. .40 S&W $15.00/50 rnds. Wifey asked why I didn't get two! :what:

What a girl!

Felt kind of silly...just buying one box!

380 acp, Magteah 16.00, second brand 21.00 for box of 50 at fort lewis if you have base access.

660 rounds 30-06
mixed greek and korean enbloc
$250 local internet board.
I have heard that the CMP will be selling Greek in a few months at cheaper than that.

Got some of that $13.97 federal .243 and $12/15 rem 3" 00 buck at Walmart in Vegas. Wish my local store carried that.

Cabelas had $10.99/25 SB 00 buck and $4.99/20 tula .223 a few weeks ago. I used the 20% off internet coupon on those prices. Should have bought more.

Seems people are starting to unload their cases of russian .223. I have seen at .22/round locally.

The best ammo deal I've stumbled on in quite some time was $14.95 for 50 rounds of PMC Brass in .380 ACP. One of the Big Red stores in the central part of the state was selling it during the holiday season and had a goodly stock on hand. I picked up some, went back a couple of days later for some more, then went back a third time a week later. Every time I returned, the stockpile was getting lower and lower, but I was able to secure enough to do some serious PPK-shooting this summer.

I reload and cast my own 9mm and pay about $2.50 per 50 or $45 per 1000 with primers at 34 and powder at 20. I just recently bought primers for 49.99 and powder for 26 locally out of desperation only to go to the gunshow last weekend and find primers/powder priced cheaper 35-40 primers and 19 for powder.:cuss:

About $10-$12 for 50 Blazer Alum. in 9mm

Not great but not bad, and a decent round for target practice.

Corbon DPX in 9mm. Don't ask.
