What are your "fun guns"?

When I feel like doing something firearms related that just plain makes me grin, I haul my black powder revlovers to the range. Not much more fun to be had than that.

What I do for fun most of the time, like 3-4 times a week, is shoot skeet. So I guess my most fun gun is my old Remington 1100 20ga standard frame. I had to upgrade reloaders this weekend just to keep up on feeding the shotgun. :)

Henry Lever... it's inexpensive, light, and quick to load over twenty .22 shorts. I get just about as much satisfaction working the action as busting up the reactive targets. Knowing how cheap it was makes it all the better.

My Colts are my fun guns. I have a Colt Cobra, Python and a Government Model. I don't carry them or have them loaded up for home defense.

I only own them because they are objects of beauty that I can shoot. Mostly I keep them clean and polished. My fun guns are when I shoot my safe queens. Because, then I can justify them to my self as tools and art. That gives me great satisfaction of ownership. Puts one of these on my face :D .

I have quite a few but the top ones are:
CZ-52 - Loud, accurate attention getter. Most think it is some sort of "Bond gun".

CVA 50 cal. Plains Pistol from a kit I built. I customized it with a rear sight, barrel wedge instead of the wimpy pin provided in the kit and a brass ramrod replacing the wooden dowel CVA supplied. Instant crowd maker when I shoot "the pirate pistol" (Arrg matey!!!). "Who shot the cannon? :what: ":D

My AK is definatly my main fun gun. I loading a full magazine and just yanking the trigger.

But I just bought a Kimber Custom II, so we will see how that plays out.

My Glock 23, Taurus 85, Mosin, Winchester 1300, Ruger 10/22 are also pretty fun ;)

9mm Beretta Storm (accurate, low recoiling, easy to clean)

9mm Beretta 92FS

7.62 CETME (Low recoil, accurate, fun to shoot. PITA to field strip and clean though)

Ruger Security-Six .357 Magnum (sentimental favorite. My first handgun)

.410 NEF mini parder single shot cut down stock and barrel to barely legal length from factory.

S&W 17-4 6" 22lr revolver or something like a 10/22 or Nylon 66. Give me one of those, a deserted desert shooting spot and a brick of ammo and it doesn't get any better than this unless the Swedish bikini team showed up!

Mosin Nagant M44 is also a fun gun with all the flash and blast and all.

They are all fun guns, but from a fun factor only and ignoring any practical considerations my most fun are:

-S&W 57- relatively mild recoil and the .41mag has a heck of a boom, only problem is ammo costs.

-S&W 65LS and 19- Very little (other than above) can come close to .357mag out of a K-frame for fun

-1911- what do I have to say, hard to beat

-CZ 75B- big accurate gun, low recoil and cheap 9mm ammo

-Winchester 94- one in 30-30 (man that is a blast) and just a tad less fun per shot, but with much cheaper ammo so probably more fun per buck, is the one in .45LC.

-SKS- fun, cheap to shoot, history

-AR15- cheap enough to shoot all day, accurate, and the same thing I shot in Basic Training (essentially).

-For the first few cylinders my blackpowder revolvers count. Few things beat the blast of flame and cloud of smoke they produce. The attention they garner is fun too. Unfortunately, after a few cylinders the mess and the loading process starts to get old which drops them to a lower point on the "fun to shoot" list then they'd otherwise get.

I haven't had my "fun gun" for a few years now.... :(

It was known as an M-256...others know it as the main gun on the Abrahms. :) Now you wanna talk about smiles per round....<sigh>

Now I only have my 16" Contender 45-70...14" 44 Mag...

And my Brno mouser with a few bottles of tannerite down range.

Not as loud as my old tank gun, but at least it sets off my buddies alarm. :D

Fun?

I have lots of fun guns, some were bought just for fun, others just turned out that way. But my most fun gun is:

UZI.jpg

Full Auto Rocks.

Especially with a .22 conversion kit!

-LeadPumper

3" S&W 625-7 45 colt
3" S&W 65-3 357 mag
4" S&W 18-3 22lr
3" Charter arms 44spl
4" S/A XD-9 9mmP
3½" S&W SW99C 9mmP
5½" Ruger 512 Mk II 22lr
Remmy 870 12 gauge with a
21" rem choke,rifle sights
Winny 1300 defender 12 gauge
20" barrel,bead sight

All are fun guns.

ALL of them, but especially the M-1 Garand and Springfield '03. Both of them are older than I am, but still give the NEWER rifles a run for the money in accuracy!

I'll add my Smith & Wesson model 41 to the list, for it has been my most reliable, accurate and easy to maintain handgun. It performs almost as good, in the accuracy department, as many .22 rifles!

LeadPumper, I'm waiting on Form 4s for an IMI conversion Uzi and two Vector suppressors (9 & 45). When they show up, I'm sure the Uzi will be my "fun gun" too! I've got almost as much invested in accessories as in the gun, but I do still need to get one of those LXVIII drums ...

But for now:
MechTech CCU
Firestorm 22
S&W 617
M1 Carbine
S&W 627
10/22

S&W 17-4 6" 22lr revolver or something like a 10/22 or Nylon 66. Give me one of those, a deserted desert shooting spot and a brick of ammo and it doesn't get any better than this unless the Swedish bikini team showed up!

Wise words.

On the other hand you can't go wrong with a mule-eared double-barrelled twelve-gauge, box of 00 buck, crate of pumpkins, and a bottle of Tylenol.

I'd have to say that my AR-15 is my fun gun. Relatively cheap to shoot, loads of fun, and very tacti-cool.

Jake, I can relate about the .50 DE story, a buddy of mine and I were at an indoor range earlier this year and a couple of real dumba$$s came in. They were warned several times about rapid-fire, and they kept trying to blame everyone else. One of them brought in a .44Mag S&W and were hootin' and hollerin' about how it's THE most powerful handgun in the world. So me and my buddy get to either side of them, me with my Ruger .454Casull SRH, him with his rented .50 DE. We just started alternating shots down range, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM... They left quietly and the range owner didn't have to dust the ceiling for awhile.:D
