So for 2016, I have a few items on my To-Do list.

So first of all, I'm going to Form 1 my 5.56 AR pistol for a decent SBR.

Some of my bigger projects:
I'm going to start a few builds that will stretch out through 2016.

I have a complete poly lower and a stripped steel flat welded lower, and an folded and welded steel Uzi magwell.

First, I'm going to build or buy complete, a .450 Bushmaster upper. I don't have a bigger bore "thumper" AR platform. I've done my research, weighed pros and cons, and have decided the .450 to be best for my needs, rather than the .458 SOCOM or .50 Beowulf. This, for the moment, will share a lower with my 5.56 carbine. Getting the upper built is a higher priority than building another lower, which may also happen in 2016, depending on funds.

I'm also going to build a 9mm upper, carbine length. The plan is to cut and weld the Uzi mag well into the steel lower and have a fun little 9mm Road Warrior-esque plinking range toy.

As for the poly lower, I'm thinking of a minimalist, light weight take down rifle. I'm doing this only because I don't think the poly lower will stand up to the .450 recoil.

If funds permit after these projects are finished, I am thinking of a Form 1 supressor (or maybe just buy one and transfer).

I'm also thinking of a mid-bore caliber, either .300 AAC or 6.5 Grendel. I haven't decided on either just yet. Still weighing the factors and trying to pinpoint my own purpose for this rifle. It's the lowest priority on the project list.

I have no real plans for shotguns or pistols, other than get a better stock of handgun mags for what I already have.

So those are my plans for the year... What do you have on the horizon?

I never make plans to buy guns. Since the stuff I like is all used for the most part, I have to strike when I see something I want.

I am thinking about getting one of the new Smith & Wesson Model 66's to go with the Model 69 I got a few months ago. If the 66 is as well thought out as the 69 is, it will be a winner.

Apart from the usual, unpredictable impulse purchases, I'll probably concentrate in unfinished project guns. The only gun I think I really need right now is Remington 7600, with .270 + .30-06 + 9.3x62 switch barrel conversion; too many excellent hog, red deer and fallow deer hunting countries I frequent don't allow semiautos for hunting so there's a genuine need for something quicker than a magnum-action Weatherby bolt rifle and short range lever guns.

I've also been drooling over the new Zeiss Victory V8 series scopes but it'll probably take some time before my wallet (and my wife) agrees...

I'm going to continue my efforts with the active defense of the 2A and attempts to roll back repressive knife and firearms laws.

I have a police surplus project Remington 870 Wingmaster. It's missing the barrel, and has an incandescent Surefire forend. It has an old MMC ghost ring sight, but MMC is out of business, so I need to find or modify a barrel with a correct front sight height. Also, I need to upgrade the Surefire to an LED.

I'd like to buy an AK variant, but with my poorly paying job, I'm having a hard time justifying the expense. It seems like they were just $250 a couple years back.

I'd also like to pick up a Colt AR15, but the same thing with the budget. I might pick up a few lowers, though.

I've been on the verge of purchasing a .357 mag 6" stainless Security Six, but a recent hand injury might make that untenable.

I want to finish my reloading bench and learn to do that. I have the equipment and brass. I don’t have powder, bullets or primers yet so I guess the cash in my “gun fund” gets spent there first. I have a friend who’s been doing it for decades who said he’d show me the ropes.

I’d love to find an IDPA or 2-Gun league or similar in the Denver area but so far I haven’t found anything. I used to be in a trap league and it really helped my shotgun proficiency and I’d like to do the same with my handguns and maybe my AR.

I have zero guns on my list – which is strange. There are a few I wouldn’t mind having, like a .357 lever just for fun, but have no plans to get.

i'm getting rid of my bighorn actions. [strike]ordering a custom defiance machine action today that will get built as a 260AI in 2016.[/strike] also finishing up a surgeon 6.5x47L. Hoping to be competitive in the PRS this season after 2 years of work getting in the way.
Also planning several tweaks to the way i practice both rifle and pistol, and to my CCW setup.

edit:
wow, i guess i spoke too soon. they didn't have the options i want, so i'm still searching for a custom action

What are your gun plans for 2016?

Likely the same as they were for 2015, which would be none. There are a few guns I have been wanting so if they come along they come along. I would like to repair my 6 PPC bolt gun built 20+ years ago and broke the bolt on. For me it is just how things play out. Been, for example, wanting a nice S&W Model 25. Should one come along before I see a bolt I can use then I get it. I simply don't have a real plan. So I guess it is a matter of Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be). :)

Almost identical to last year's

-Buy more ammunition than I shoot
-Shoot more often than last year
-Net increase of at least one firearm (can we get a compact VP9?)
-Instruct more often
-Attend professional training
-Actually use my reloading equipment to make more of my own range ammo

I have had the parts to assemble two Garands for several years. Hopefully I'll get around to turning them into complete rifles.

The Holy Grail is finding a nice S&W Model 16-4.

Finish my ar 15 build finish my ar 15 pistol build buy mags and ammo get back to reloading

No plans. More like ...................Look what I found!
I'm trying to quit.
I might sell some stuff, on the toy side of the spectrum.
Maybe get a 26" varmint or bull barrel for a Savage model 10 with a Plaster folder in .308 or .260 or .260 AI.

I have three 25/20s. I would like to get my hands
on some good re-loadable brass without giving a
pint of blood.

More suppressors.

NO MORE GUNS! I almost bought a new rifle the other day. I have 20 hunting rifles that I NEVER use for hunting.

Filed for my last Form 1 on an SBR today. It will be here in 2016. Happy Birthday to me. Makes 5 for me. I say last because its my last official act as an Oregonian. Moving to Washington State where its still not legal to file a form 1 on an SBR. You can bring them in or buy a complete SBR on a form 4 but mine will be allowed in.

This may sound blasphemous,,,

This may sound blasphemous,,,
But I've almost completed my "wanna own" list.

I just ordered as my Christmas present to myself,,,
A 6" Ruger Mk-III Standard to pair with my Savage Mk-IIF rifle.

That's the last handgun/rifle I wanted to assemble as a set.

If I win the auction on a Mauser ES340B single-shot .22 rifle,,,
I'll have the rimfire mate to my beloved K98 Mauser.

The only other rifle I have on my radar is a Polish M-44 Nagant,,,
I would like to pair it with my WZ-48 Polish Rimfire Trainer.

Honestly,,,
I think I'm done,,,
Because I did make that long list,,,
And with the exception of the M-44 it's all checked off.

So for 2016 my projects are to get all of my guns in nice fitted cases,,,
Make certain that they are all dialed in at the range,,,
And shoot some of the ammo I've been saving.

There will always be the occasional pawn shop impulse purchase,,,
I'm always a sucker for the older single-shot .22 rifles,,,
But I usually clean them up and gift them away.

So this year it's playing with the toys I already own,,,
And ensuring they all have nice snuggly homes to reside in.

I have a few things on my "want" list but none of them are new, so who knows when I will have to opportunity to purchase them. I also try to have at least one NFA item in "pending" status. Not sure what the next one is going to be but I really like Arizona Mike's idea!! I started moving my reloading bench a few weeks ago and the project got side tracked, so I am going to have to finish that. Little by little I have been having rifles threaded for a few of my cans, so i will continue to do that. The biggest project is going to be extending my backyard range out to 300 yards. My yard is pretty heavily wooded so it is no easy chore.

I think there was one more thing but I always get distracted by Aaronds commas! :D

I've pretty well exhausted my "wants" list. I'm concentrating on improving a few optics and triggers, and stacking ammo deep while it's available at halfway decent pricing. Doing more shooting and inviting more non-gun folks out for a free range session.

Same thing we try to do every year... Try to take over the world! :

And barring achieving personal Global Hegemony:

Finish having the 6mm Rem built.
Finish the 6.5x55 build.
Build a 280 AI Rem from the Savage 110 acquired last year.
Get a couple of bolt-action 22LRs. Need them for merit badge classes. That's a good excuse, isn't it? :)
Practice more. Build a good portable shooting bench. (Probably the 1st priority.)
