FREMONT, California - A pack of angry Chihuahuas attacked a police officer who was escorting a teenager home following a traffic stop, authorities said. The officer suffered minor injuries including bites to his ankle on Thursday when the five Chihuahuas escaped the 17-year-old boy's home and rushed the officer in the doorway, said Fremont detective Bill Veteran.

The teenager had been detained after the traffic incident, Veteran said.

The officer was treated at a local hospital and returned to work less than two hours later, Veteran said.

It was the third time this month a Fremont officer was bitten by a dog while on duty. Neither of the other officers were seriously injured.

And it was the second bizarre incident in as many hours for the Fremont Police Department.

Two hours earlier, a homeowner in Niles reported that an intruder broke into her home and added pornography to her computer.

The woman said she woke up and was startled to see a stranger typing away on her computer. The intruder fled, but left behind an altered screen saver that featured images of "erotic Indian art," Veteran said.

Nothing was reported stolen, and neither the woman nor her nine-year- old daughter was hurt, he said.

Fremont is about 35 miles (56 kilometers) southwest of San Fransisco

I think a 12ga would work nicely in either circumstance.

For the ankle biters, tall boots should do it. As for the porn, what was that website again?

I guess being close to San Francisco explains it...

Loved to have seen those Taco Bell dogs going after the cop...anybody know how many were involved (dogs, not cops)?

There is just something about that sentance....

    Yo Quero Copo Bell??

Somehow the word "pack" doesn't fit either. Pack deals with wolves, wild dogs, hyenas, and such. Maybe it should be something like a "Chalupa of Chihuahuas..."

I prefer a 9 Iron for the ankle biters.

Steelcapped boots. Apply generously. Repeat as necessary.

The author of "What do Dogs Know?" reports a film of a dozen schusshund trained Chihauhas that had been taught to fight as a group.

When you think about it it's pretty scary. They may be 15 pounds each, but that adds up to a lot of teeth and a pretty big total weight. Sure, you could stomp three or four of them, but the other eight or nine could hamstring you.

Then when they kill you you'll have to tell St. Peter "I got mobbed by a pack of Taco Bell dogs". And he'll say "You go to Hell."

I got attacked by 4 crazed minature poodles one time. I gave the first one that tried to bite my ankle a pretty good boot (he did a back flip and gave out a pretty good yelp). The rest were smart enough to back off while I extricated myself.

    Time to re-introduce the Velodog

Didn't the French make a revolver for bicyclists to use against
    dogs actually brandnamed Velodog?
Looks like we need an upgraded model: VeloChihuahua,
with the prequisite suite of tactical add-ons.

My parents used to keep a small pack of 20-25 pound bostons. I'd watch them engage in pack type behaviors. Group takedown stuff.

A pack of smaller dogs are generally going to be more effective than an equal weight single larger dog.

Of course the massive side ache from laughing so hard he could barely stand was probably worse than the bites to his ankle.
