What caliber for sharks?

Cut the line. Need a Colt 45. Hit between the eyes. Swam aimlessly for half-a-minute. Ended up an anchor. Tuffed and baked in the afternoon. Need a Colt 45.

Guys I know it sounds like a joke, but when that grain alcohol hits their gills its lights out for the fish... of course a 12GA bangstick will do nicely too.

Used to use a 357 bang stick off St Simons Island, GA. 38 was all you needed; my buddy decided to load up a full-up mag round, tapped Mr Shark on the noggin, gave him a terminal headache, and watched as the "bang" part fell off the splintered end of the stick & headed for the bottom some ~90 ft down. We switched to a less-phishingsophisticated and more primitive Python pistol form of dispatch...

A thump to the gills with a baseball bat and they die pretty qickly, even the big ones. Why so much overkill for sharks. Heck Ive seen people use little clubs that fit in their pockets just for that purpose.
Like was mentioned earlier, keep in mind your boat/ship and possibly fuel, etc are possibly on the other side of that shark if your not careful when shooting them, or someone else fishing with you.

Years ago when I was still plying the "Deep Salty Pacific" I had the honor of dispatching a Blue Shark of about 8 feet with a .357 magnum Colt SAA from the deck of a destroyer. 6 shots to the head and it still swam away looking like a plane on fire. I'm sure it died. But if it didn't die of my gun shots it certainly met its end by its own brotheren...

Caution!

Used to catch sharks on handline.Used 16ga OO twixt the eyes. Then didn't touch him till next morning!Sharks brain size of walnut.Alittle OO spread covers all bases.

Right smack dab in the middle of the pacific on the equator On station with the Russians at the Russian down range missile range target. We were at the bullseye. Twern't worried. Russians couldn't hit the broad side of a barn standing inside. This was around 1967.

Oh those were the good old days when fish were more plentiful everywhere. Now you do need a boat to catch anything decent if anything at all. Must have some big fish out here by Russia.

I thought this was thread was poking fun at the 'deer round' thread around here...boy was I wrong!!! I would have NEVER thought about CCW on the beach, but I don't live near the shore...guess the application depends upon the territory where it is to be utilized; interesting thread

6' black tip shark caught off the beach at Sanibel Island, Florida. I'm the guy with the orange shirt here on vacation and I helped this dude catch this nice shark. The tourists were running for cover, it was awesome. I had my S&W model 38, 38 special nearby and I felt terribly undergunned. While being detained, the shark was writhing and trying to bite violently.
So what exactly did you do with the Black Tip. That is where I live and fish for over 30 years. I sure as hell hope you bleed it out and ate it or did you just kill it.? Maybe you pulled out your 38 and shot it and the Sanibel Police would have locked you up real fast.

Most sharks are severely depleted in numbers and people think they need to be killed for the fun of it.

I've eaten blacktips, nurse, and lemon. They are all good.

Most people have no idea it's shark, unless told.

Haven't you heard? You need a .45acp! Hit it in the fin and it'll blow the shark clean in half. Blow it clean outta the water, it will!
