I am pretty sure that this issue as been addressed before. Since I am fairly new to this site and to handguns (less than a year) I thought I would throw the question out there.

I carry a Kahr P45 in condition 0. Round in the chamber (this gun is a DAO so no external safety). I just purchased a SA 1911A1 loaded that I carry in condition 1. Round in the chamber safety on.

    What say you?

I just switched from a J frame to a XD40SC and it's in Condition 1 one ready to go. Grip it properly and the safeties are off, but I carry my 229 sometimes also and it feels safer at 0 (DA has to put pressure on something and then let it off to go bang, pretty much impossible on accident. You have to pull the trigger on this gun to make it fire. The XD and Glocks etc... can have a mechanical failure, however unlikely and go bang). The only safety you can rely on is, don't put your finger on the trigger

Like Neophyte1: revolver, all chambers loaded. Mine's a DAO (aka "hammerless") so there's no decisions to make about what 'mode' to shoot in. No slide or levers to manipulate = minimum mistakes available to make in my excitement.

With the somewhat rarely-carried 1911: Cocked, safetied, and loaded.
Revolver: All chambers loaded, hammer down.
Beretta 21: Full mag +1, hammer down, safety off.

If I pull the trigger, it's gonna go bang. (I like DAO or DA/SA models)

im not too sure what condition it falls under, but i carry my xd40sc with a round in the chamber ready to fire
the safeties are technically "on" because i do not have my hand on the grip or trigger. so its not condition 0. but there is no manual safety that needs to be switched off before the gun is ready to fire. so its not really condition 1 either

so i guess i carry at condition 0.5???

Kahr PM9 or P45-- chambered and ready to go (no external safeties installed). My most frequent CHL pistols.

1911-- Condition 1. Still trying to get used to carrying a (relatively) big, heavy 1911 (even though mine is an alloy 3"er :))

Revolver-- all chambers loaded. Seldom if ever carry a revolver anymore....

    Condition Red :D

Actually, mine is a semi-auto DA without a manual safety.

Carry one in the chamber and a fully load mag plus two spare mags.
