What did you see at the gun shop today?

A new stainless Colt Anaconda 44mag. A used .357 Dan Wesson with 4 barrels and crap tons of new plastic Smith n Wessons. My God they must be coming from China, so many everywhere.

I honestly didn't check out the prices. It was a quick stop on the way home to grab some bullets for the 45acp. I did pay 44 for a pound of H4350. More than I like paying but I was getting low and didn't want to run out. Loading for the 270 eats a pound of powder quickly.
Don't we both know it... I love 270 but dang it uses powder like Johnny Depp in the 90s... And don't even get me started on 300RUM...

S&W Model 40-1 38 Special revolver, J frame. Has a grip safety.

Edit: Forgot one more gun shop saw a Beretta Tomcat 32 ACP.

In all I went to two gun shops yesterday and one today. The one today my favorite and got several boxes of ammo while I was there.

Some interesting items today.

Ruger Mini 30 stainless
Ruger Blackhawk 44 stainless.

A guy who walked in after me bought them both.

Also a Langdon Beretta 92 Centurion.

However, I have been looking for a solid 308 rifle for a bit now for cheap. I was contemplating just buying a new Ruger American since they come in left hand and the price is right.

I walked into a shop I don’t usually frequent because a friend of mine works there now and immediately saw this.

It is a righty but I can live with it because it checks every other box on my pie in the sky wish list. It’s too bad the 600/660/673/Model 7 actions don’t come in lefty.

My wish list went something like this:

308
Short barrel
Lighter weight
Preferably older
Preferably lefty
Under $500 with scope.

It was 526.60 OTD with the scope. Much less money and much more rifle than the RAR I was contemplating.

Stopped by at a friend's shop.

He has an original S&W second model from WW2. Full British proofs, in 455 Webly. Condition is very good, it has the broad arrow marks for British surplus and the cylender has not been milled down for 45ACP.

IIRC the price was less than $800.

Tempted
Ironhand

Saw this FN Five Seven FDE Gen 2 at a gun show here in OKC today! It came with 500rds of Federal 40gr FMJ ammo and I had the money to buy it and snatched it up! The guy was willing to do a bit of horse trading so we worked a deal out. Now if I could only find some 30rd mags......

INTERARMS VIRGINIAN DRAGOON in 44 Magnum used, a few small gouges on the frame, which is the heat treated (looks like a bad bluing job), with solid blue barrel and cylinder but the ejector and backstrap are a deep red color. Want $450 for it, not a bad deal but I still want to wait for a 45 Colt.

Also a S&W Model 10 38 Special 3-inch barrel and rubber grip for ~$425 and a Model 12-1 38 Special 2-inch barrel with wood grip for ~$625.

Uncoiled Firearms: S&W Model 19-6 (no lock) .357 Magnum 6-shot revolver with 3-inch barrel for $950, which seems rather high considering a different gun shop (Shooter's Service) just had a S&W Model 10 (no lock) 38 Special 3-inch barrel for ~$425. Oh when I stopped at Shooter's Service yesterday to buy some ammo and snap caps the guy in line in front of me had just purchased the Model 10.

Uncoiled also has a Cimmaron single-action 45 long Colt revolver for $700. That would be a nice one but the price was too high for me. I had eyed it a few times and instead jumped on the Virginian Dragoon 44 Magnum for $425 at Shooter's Service.

Shooter's Service is my favorite shop and sadly, after over 40 years, they are moving up north, way up some 4-5 hours up, this October. So I plan to visit as often as I can.

Wow I paid $425 for my Pietta SAA 45 Colt revolver a few months ago!

Dang, you guys are going to make me head back up to the gun shop. ;)
The hard part is holding it steady. The recoil is surprisingly manageable with the ported barrel.
If I buy a cannon. I want it to come with wheels though...

Yeah, well shortly after that gun sold, a guy in the gun shop said a guy shot one at the range, had his thumb by the front of the cylinder and blew the tip off his thumb. Guess he was a novice trying to hold it steady.

I've heard of that happening. They are muzzle heavy and just heavy in general. Kind of like desert eagles.

A pristine H&R Model 999 22 Long Rifle 9-shot top-break revolver with 5-inch barrel for $550 on consignment. I should have bought it. It looks like this ( photo off web):

First, it was to stretch my legs on the drive from the Memphis area to Fairhope AL (Eastern Shore).

The gun/pawn shop on Hwy 45 in West Point MS has several Long floor racks Stuffed with ARs, a few Mini-14s, Ruger 10-22s and a pair of Century VSKA :scrutiny: “AKMs” plus shotguns and rows of various rifles unknown to me.

Many handguns were under the glass cases.

The store yesterday had more customers;) (I think we know one reason) than I’ve seen during a few visits over several years. It was about 2:00 Friday.
This is what caught my attention- and during working hours.

First trip in since new owners took over. They had a ruger Blackhawk in 357. Said it was new but it had obvious wear and some tarnish. The price on the tag was $1989.99. I ask if that was negotiable and the guy said not by much if any. I turned around and left never to walk through that door again.

Stopped by on Thursday, revolver ammo was in, only ammo not really in stock was the more obscure rifle calibers. And, of course, 5.45x39.
Some interesting Colts in the Used case--couple of Pythons, and a Cobra, at fair market value, not too high, not low, either.
The eye-catcher in the used rifle rack was an AR-30 in .338--also priced Fair Market Value.

Very nice. I have never pulled the trigger on one of those, so to speak. Mainly because they get no ammo support and my poor Dad already has to load for about 15 calibers. One more might just give him another heart attack.

Though that didn't stop me from building a few 6mm ARCs this year. I am a bad son. Though I did build him one, too.
