What did you shoot today?

Today, i shot My Remington 760 in 30-06 and my Walther bolt action .22lr. I think it’s called a K22 or a kt22. Beautiful bolt action .22.

Anyway I got the 760 re-crowned For $81 total and It was totally worth it. Shot a couple of good groups with different ammo for the first time in a while. Shot it with Brkwning 180grain and Sierra 165 around an inch. It still didn’t like 150grain cheap Federal soft points.

Im really happy that it shot. It’s my only .30 and I need it to run good.

I'm up against all sorts of journalistic deadlines for my political articles, so I had a very busy weekend. However, I try very hard to get to the range weekly. I figured I would hit the range after church (ditching my jacket and tie) and do some very brief pistol shooting. I shot 50 rounds of PMC "Bronze 115 grain 9mm FMJ out of my Ruger SR9. I shot OK. I had a friendly chat with a couple of pleasant young fellows who were blasting away with an M6 Survival Rifle. You don't see them much these days.

Took the target guns to the range this morning for a bit; LB Premiere II .45. Shadow 2 9mm, S&W Model 41 .22 LR. These three shoot so well that they honestly make me look a lot better than I am. 😇

If I get back early enough from my sons passport renewal appointment tomorrow morning, I might just grab a couple of .22 rifles to plink a bit then.

Stay safe.

Well finally got back on track this late afternoon and early evening. New shooter showed and we had a good session. Brought out the Blackhawk Bisley 45, the M&P40, and dad's single six. We've gotten a fair amount of rain and most of it's been under water, finally was able to get back and mow the range this afternoon as well

Today I shot, but not very well, and you can laugh with me or at me....the Colt Gold Cup Trophy. I think I deserve a trophy for the worst group out of a Gold Cup.

Yep, I've shot one-hole groups out of my cap-N-ball pistols at 15 yards, and tight groups at 25. This was at 25 yards. Ten shots, (one hole is a double) and I saw the pattern I was getting and so I quit. Was just resting my forearms on a 2X6, but that's no excuse. Okay, that's the humor for the day, thanks for listening.
Ah, no worries! You're just not accustomed to that new-fangled 1911.

I have really been enjoying the Birdshead Wrangler lately. It shoots pretty darned good for 3¾bbl .22. Especially one that costs under $250!

I finished a few projects today, and wound up back at the river. I tried to catch fish, but the water was still rolling too strong.

I did manage to sink driftwood Akagi with only 10 shots from my Wrangler.😉

I shot the S&W Model 64-8 38spl with the dreaded internal lock and two piece barrel I bought for $300 OTD a couple years ago.Shot 50 of my 158gr 38spl reloads. I shot very much better than the DW 15-2 that I ran 150 rounds through yesterday. Go figure. Fixed sight, old eyes, least expensive gun I ever bought and shoot it better than adjustable sight gun known for it's accuracy which I paid over twice as much for. The trigger on the Smith is easier for me to stay on target through the pull than my DW. Maybe I just need more practice w/DW. 20250509_125101.jpg

I ran about 60 rounds through an Anschutz 22lr rifle, practicing a new offhand stance, for a match I have tomorrow morning. I was shooting at 50 yards - it looks farther in the picture. I also shot a few cylinders through a S&W model 18 .22lr revolver. I was shooting DA at 25 yards, trying to keep them in a 3" circle. I wasn't that successful in that endeavor.

I went to the range with 2 THR enablers on Thursday. I was going to say THR friends, but even though we met through THR they have quickly become good friends.

I said, enablers! Yes, we had a super super good time. And we got to shoot each other's guns. After shooting them, we want to add them to our own collections, hence enablers 😂

I had never shot any 32 S&W long revolver. What a cool cartridge and now I see why they are popular with bullseye shooters.

I also got to shoot a 2011 & 1911 9mm. I have always been one of the 1911 45acp guys. Now the tough part? Do I buy a 1911 single stack 9mm or a double stack 1911/2011 9mm 🤔

In total there were:
5 - 9mms
3 - 32 s&w long & mag
2 - 380 acps
1 - 38 special
1 - 45 acp
1- 10mm
1 - 41mag

I have to mention this range day also was an opportunity for each of us to try guns we were thinking about, but now want to go a different direction. One of the guys shot my Glock 29 10mm. He shot it great 👍(better than I do), but wants to go with a full size!

I was debating about which single stack Glock 9mm. I got to shoot a 48. Nice Nice gun. I think it may be a little long in the grip for pocket carry. The other friend has put it on his list of future options 😁

I did decide that my H&K 45c is going to be traded off. It will help fund the 1911/2011 9mm and Glock 43.
My local gun shops seldom have older used revolvers. And when they do, they disappear quickly. But I will definitely add a 32 to the watch list.
Thanks guys, I had a super time and I'm looking forward to seeing you at GOALS.

Sorry THR, no pictures. You would think one of the 3 of us would have taken a few! I guess we were just have to much fun!!!!

I worked it the garden until dark last night.....and again this am.
I went in the mancave to find a starling trying to get out..... they clip the leaves on my tomatoes and peppers.....so I decided to execute him.
I found my old daisy 760? 880? I don't remember the model....but it's a remnant of my youth.....also used by my three sons.

Much to my surprise....it still had bbs....and it seemed to pump up.....it had not been used in a decade. First shot was a miss....but not the second!
I took two steps outside and heard a starling in a tree....so I went back inside, opened the safe and asked for volunteers. Everything took one step back, except my old SUPERMAG.. I opened the ammo cabinet and there was a baggie full of old paper shotshells. I grabbed a couple and sent another starling to an early grave.

If you know.....you know.....there's no other smell like a freshly fired paper shotgun shell!
Oh my....the memories!

Yesterday in a steel match my G44. It's been a very reliable little rimfire pistol.
Mine has too. And as I said in my other post in this thread, my G44 is plenty accurate for ground squirrels at 20 yards or less. Any ground squirrels farther away than that though, I'm a lot better off with my scoped Kimber bolt .22LR rifle. My little G44 is probably "accurate" enough for ground squirrels at 30 yards - I'm not. At least not with a handgun. ;)
