• Possible Downtime Alert

I am working to migrate THR from the current cluster to a new one. I would like to get this done before the weekend, but it's unclear what the timeframe will be, as testing is still ongoing. As I am writing this the new (rebuilt) host is doing a burn-in to ensure that everything will keep running under load.

When the migration happens users will see a Cloudflare message indicatating it cannot connect to the server. This is expected, and depending on how the migration goes this may last from 30 minutes to 3 hours - I won't know more until testing the various migration options is complete and I have finalized the plan.

More information is available in this thread.

As always, thanks so much for your patience.

What did you shoot today?

Took a couple of revolvers out today, a 3” GP .44 Spl. and 5” new Python.

GP shoots ok for me, loads were both coated; a 200 gr RNFP and a 215 gr SWC, both over 6.9 gr Unique.

The Python just shot coated .38’s today, one a 147 gr RN that is usually a 9mm-.38 Super bullet (sized .357) and the other a 158 gr SWC (.358). Both .38 loads are using the last of my IMR Target powder, a powder that has been discontinued. (I found out that IMR Target powder has a tendency to clump up after opening if not used right away. I tossed the last 1/2-3/4 pound or so that I had because it clumped and threw funky charge weights,)

Shooter in the next lane was shooting plain lead-lubed .41 mag loads, some of them he showed me were loaded-labeled in the 1980’s. The guy was shooting very well, but smoke was rolling out of his bay like fog. I swear I can still taste it four hours after coming home. :(

Stay safe.

Double checked zero on the Rim-X with the Banish 22, adjusted it .1 left after one group, shot another one, then cleaned the 1 3/4 to 1/4" 50 KYL twice and called it good.

We're going to shoot this Saturday, NRL-22 in the morning, and PRS-22 after that, at West Georgia Precision.

Jeff also shot the Scythe-Ti, the Harvester, and the Banish 30 on his 6 GT to see how they felt.

Put 100 rounds of 158gr 38spl reloads through 1984 S&W Model 10-7 Puruvian FBI contract 38spl snub. These never made it Peru because they canceled the contract before they shipped. S&W then made them available to dealers. It has the Peru FBI crest on sideplate which includes a Llama. Nice shooting snubby. Shot 50 rounds through the 1979 Ruger Speed Six 357 too.

Tried zeroing an old Leupold 3.5-10x40AO on my new Ruger American 308 WIN. Finally decided the scope isn’t holding zero - I switched to the Burris Fullfield II 3-9x40 I bought from Natchez on their close-out deal a few weeks back - zero’d in two groups. Now for load development for the fall deer season and shipping that Leupold in for factory service. OH

Actually last night, week four of summer trap league, about thirty teams distributed over four divisions. My 1975 870 TB, during the windiest night I can remember. One of our top shooters carded a 23 @16 and a 12!@23yards.
I did way better than I expected with a 24 and a 22. Kind of proud to be holding the highest average in the league after four weeks. 49, 48, 46, 46.

While at the range this morning I noticed one of the shooters was doing mag dumps really fast. He was rock solid!!!!
When he was walking past me leaving the range. I complimented him on how fast and steady he was! So he showed me.

It is a CZ TS 2. He let me run a magazine through it. I can sum the pistol up with one word: SWEET

Now since shooting it I have been telling myself that I don't need one 🙃 🤣🤣🤣

I was at the local club pistol range with a friend and his wife. She had a full-size CZ something or other.

She allowed me to shoot it. It was one of the nicest shooting nines I have ever experienced.

I shot the CZ P10F that a THR friend owns. It is really nice. For around $400 it is a bargain that shoots great.
The CZ TS 2 is like $2K.

If I didn't own a Canik TTI Combat and Mete SFT I would add the P10F.

$2K for a handgun no longer scares me.

I could sell 4 or 5 (or 6) 9mms that I never shoot, and pay for one really nice pistol.

I got to shoot my CZ550 6.5x55 at 100 yds today, factory ammo was PPU 140 gr PSP and Sellier & Bellot 140 gr PSP. The gun was good with them, nothing super great. (Windage was initially off, rounds kept going a bit right even with a R to L breeze.)
PPU:

I adjusted the windage a bit and then shot some of my 6.5x55 hand loads; 140 gr Speer PSP over 44.5 gr RL-22. I’d say those were doing pretty good in this rifle.

Now I have a bunch of Swedish Mauser, 30-30 Win, .44 Spl., and .45 ACP cases buzzing away in the cleaner. :)

Stay safe.

I went to the range this morning between rain showers.
I shot 20 rounds of Norma 38 special FMJs through my 686 357mag.
I also shot 20 rounds through my 442 38 special. 10 rounds of Critical Defense FTX 110 grain +p and 10 rounds of Underwood 158 grain hardcast +p. Funny that I shot the mild stuff through the 357 and the wild stuff through the Airweight. YES my hand hurts now 😢
