and PTR-91 "Classic GI". No handguns recently, they simply aren't nearly as interesting.

I shot several different handguns only to test and sight them in but finished off shooting only five rounds of my long, long time favorite and was reminded why the Neuhausen SIG P210-6 has been the gun I had taken to the competitions.

Had to work a short day today. Came home and decided I haven't practiced with automatic pistol near enough for quite a while and the black powder revolver is just so fun IMG_20220813_184704790.jpg IMG_20220813_193245784.jpg IMG_20220813_190514310.jpg

Today I shot trouble. I did some trouble shooting on my 308 and Marlin 60. Turns out it was pretty straight forward.

The 308 was bending rims when ejecting cases from my hand loads. I tested some factory Winchester M80 7.62 NATO and PMC 308 Winchester 147 grain FMJ. Turns out it wasn’t too far from bending these rims too. A few twists of the adjustable block cleared up the issue.

The issue with the Marlin was even simpler. I rezeroed the sights and shot a couple groups and turns out I just can’t shoot it.

Ill be honest. When I first got it I never had a problem. After a month or so It got to where it wanted to have feed issues. I got a new magazine and that seemed to fix it, mags for this thing are over priced too btw, yesterday I had one fail to eject after about the third full mag that was easily fixed. It's never gonna be as reliable as a 1911 but as long as you keep it squeaky clean you don't have trouble.

After I sold mine off (very early in my gun-owning years), I discovered it was largely a mechanical copy of the S&W M39, despite the passing resemblance to a DA Hipower. Ive since wondered over the years if the magazines might be interchangeable- or at least easily adaptable.

Not that good M39 mags grow on trees these days either.....:(

FEG also made a .45 version of the same gun which was intriguing and tempting. It suggested what the first S&W .45 ACP might have looked like if they had just upscaled the M39/59 design instead of evolving it into the 645. Definitely unique magazines for that one, though!

Mine is the .45 version. I didn't know it came in other calibers in fact. I always thought it looked kinda like a SIG but with all steel and wood construction. That's another thing I'll add is that this gun has the same problem as an AMT hardball long slide in the sense that it only likes full weight ball ammo like 230 FMJ. Hollow points don't run good in it. I've never tried any buffalo bore stuff in it cause Im not made of money I'm a workin man

Do it man. My neighbors/inlaws just left for a Sunday drive. I think I might get my flintlock out. They normally complain that the noise from that thing frightens one of their lap dogs but if they ain't here they can't complain

Didn't get the flinter out. Found a box of .45 ACP o forgot I had and fired the FEG off. Shot 4 mags full. Didn't clean it yesterday and this ammo has been in my basement for a while causing some of the cases to have a little of that blueish green stuff on em so I had a failure to feed on the second to last round every mag. Weird. Oh well like I said that gun only does well when it's clean. Bout to disassemble and deep clean right now

I haven't been there in decades but do you mean the old public range off 41?

Ah, gotcha, didnt get a good sense of scale from the pics, lol. The single-stack 9mm looks identical to the .45 (only smaller), and there was also a double-stack which, iirc, did actually accept 14-round S&W M59 mags. Ive read that they offered a .40 on the larger frame, but have never even seen a picture of one.

That's Knight Trail in Venice. They added the overhead barriers a couple of years ago since encroaching residential developments now surround the Park. :uhoh:

Me and the wife decided we wanted some low-stress, low-cost practice fun, so we took the .22 upper and Ciener .22 1911 conversion kit to the public range and blew a few hundred rounds. :)

One of my very favorite things to do :). In fact I did it this morning with a 7.62x39 AR. Took a couple boxes of Wolf HP and let her rip. Also shot some paper; that rifle easily groups 1.5" at 100m with a red dot. Guy one berm over was shooting something full-auto but I was having so much fun that I didn't even bother to check it out :D
