Saturday is always range day. It was today and I took the FN International Medalist 150 out again. I bought the cheap Federal standard velocity bulk packs at Walmart and they work well in the FN, better than in my revolver when I shoot double action.
The FN 150 is as reliable as only a Beretta 71 should be but with much better results when it comes to accuracy. I shot 50 rounds at 25 yards rapid fire with results that left me happy.

Same here. Saturday something gets shot. Today it was a Canik Mete for sighting in a new red dot. I got a decent deal on one and decided to try it. You can see the shots moving up toward the middle. I made one mistake. I zeroed it and then shot the rest of the reloads. Now it’s zeroed for a load I don’t have components to replicate.

I went and rough-sighted an Anschutz 1710ST in with some William peep sights I had mounted, did that offhand at 25 yards and some friendly folks came over and commended me on my shooting and praised the nice rifle. I myself was not really satisfied with the shooting and - after recently getting my 25 yard pistol accuracy halfway back on track - have to work on rifle accuracy again.

I bought a factory stock off GB for my Remington 721 in 270 to replace the Boyds stock that I put on it a few years ago. Got it out today and checked the zero with the 130gr reloads and the 150gr. Both did OK with the "edge" going to the 130's. Downside is I need to get some 270 brass, thought I had some but it wasn't where I remembered putting it..? o_O
I need some practice too.

I was back at it with the Remington 783 30-06 again today. I epoxied carbon fibre arrow shafts into the stock fore-end to stiffen it and bedded the action but wasn't happy with it. It's on a new Boyd's Platinum stock now and fits like a glove. Best results came from Hornady 165 gr Interlocks on top of IMR 4350. Vortex Viper 3x9x40 glass.

    Today:
    My "GI" model PTR-91.

From 6:10 he shows you the gong target impacts from 300 yards, then goes further. At 10:47 he shows you a quick view through the very good iron sights.

    G3 - HK91 - PTR91 to 500yds: Practical Accuracy - YouTube
Considering the amount of residue to clean inside an HK or PTR-91 after just 100 rds., the larger question should Probably be o_O "What Did You Clean Today (or over 2-3 days)?", or "Start to clean today?"
A roller-delayed blowback is Still a blowback operation. Three angels can dance on this pin....

Also took my Czechpoint VZ-58, which has the fixed butt stock.. Mine has used approx. 2,700 rds. since it was nib (all used ammo boxes are kept and counted). Zero issues.

Here is Mr. Larry Vickers, with whom some of you are familiar. He retired from Delta Force and can probably explain a gun's liabilities or assets better than most people.

I managed to shoot my Walther Colt Gold Cup Trophy, still needs work because the hammer would fall after firing on about 50 % of the shots. I need to form the mainspring a bit to eliminate this problem.

Shot my 617 for 200 rounds. Did much better, I'm starting to get steadier and my groups are getting tighter.

One strange thing at the range, I got to a public range and can't control what's going on at the bench next to me. This elderly gentleman was shooting a .357 revolver and was scaring me half to death. Not only did he point it at me a couple of times but he kept holding the gun in the palm of his hand with his thumb and part of his palm being covered by the cylinder gap.

I called the Range Master over and he told me they told the guy a few times but he would still do it. I was waiting for him to blow off his thumb or destroy his hand but he was very lucky.

I thought he would know better. He must have been in his 80s. Glad I got out of there before he did some real damage.

Shot the FN 150 International Medalist again today and my favorite Korth; the first one that I had bought. I was reminded of why I love the Korth.

I have the bag prepared for tomorrow. Life is too short to skip any opportunity to go shooting. The SIG P210-2 has a .22 l.r conversion mounted and I have the 9mm SIG P210 mags loaded but am undecided still if I should take the 210-4 or 210-6. Either will do.

Yeah.... but I made the wrong choice. The conversion has service sights and I was stupid enough to choose the P210-6 with the micro-click adjustable sights. The micro sights are great, don't get me wrong but after starting with the 210-2 with the conversion, the P210-6 sights threw me off and I readjusted POA a couple of times, which is always a very bad idea on paper.

The conversion had the rear sights drifted a little to the right and promptly that POI was to the right at 25 yards.

    IMG-3019.jpg

I shot the same gun but with the standard black polymer service grips this morning. I had drifted the rear sight over and now have the windage pretty corrected, therefore I had used a lower POA and the group was centered almost three inches low.

Savage M-10 in 223 Rem. New to me. Stuck a cheap 4x12 on it it to see if it would shoot.
    Savage M10 14Sep22.JPG

I didn't do all that well with it, but I'm a mediocre shot at best. I fired 35 rounds of 62gr Hornady FMJ with H335 powder.

The last 6 rounds I hit 3" steel at 200 yds 5 out of 6.

Still waiting on the can for it...
