After a couple months hiatus, I finally got to the range. I had tried a new 6.5 Grendel on my Colt lower and it didn't work. Not sure if it was the fault of the upper, the lower, or the magazines. In any event, I bought a new PSA lower to finish out the Grendel. This morning I tore down the Grendel upper to check on the gas system. I think the gas block was clocked a bit rather than perfectly aligning with the port in the barrel. Fixed that and put it all back together. So I put a magazine through the reassembled Colt just to make sure all was in order, then function tested the Grendel. All seemed to work as it should. A couple of misfeeds with one particular magazine, so that may need some attention. The others worked fine.

I took my sisters and my family shooting today. My youngest sister and her husband brought their stash; a couple of Hi Points, a 3” Model 36, a .22 WMR Derringer and a sporterized 7.92 Mauser. I brought a Marlin Model 39A and Glock 44 .22’s, a CZ 75D 9mm compact and 97B .45 and a SA Ronin 9mm. My oldest sister brought her unfired Glock 19.

Great day, 50 degrees, sunny and no wind. Taught my sister to shoot her Glock. She is left eye dominant, so she had to adjust her stance and grip a bit to compensate.

She shot her Glock OK, but she shot the CZ75 compact very well (First time out kept 10 shots in a 4” circle at 9 yards or so.)

Best part was my son took a fancy to the Mauser. ( Shooting at a target about 140 yards uphill, large hill as a backstop.) This was his first large-caliber bolt rifle experience.

    Stay safe.

Shot the .357’s today. S&W 686, Kimber K6S, and Colt King Cobra. Left them in the rain so they could get cleaned up. Not a single failure to fire.

Czech Model 98/22 8mm Mauser. 170 grain cast lead over 10 gr of TrailBoss in surplus Romanian Berdan primed brass. After some elevation change to the rear sight shot this 15 round group at 50 yards. Always a good day when you get to shoot!

Verified the sight in of these two for deer hunting and tested some new handloads. Both are .300wm

The weather cleared up late in the afternoon with just enough daylight left to shoot a pair of 1006s.
The one on top is a nice shooter grade pistol that i've owned for a while, but haven't shot much lately. Fired off some Sig ball ammo to clear the cobwebs from it. The one on bottom was purchased at a LGS yesterday morning. This one is in very fine condition and came with the original box and another mag. It's my 'spare'. Put only one full mag of rounds through it to see if it will function properly.
Albeit modern 10mm ammo is not in the same league as the old stuff, the recoil of these heavy solid stainless 3rd Gens. is tame and very easy to handle.

Frustrating range trip today. Still working with the PSA 6.5 Grendel upper. Last time out it seemed to work but this time it was acting under-gassed again. Several shots and then a failure to eject. Tried four different magazines and they all had glitches. Won't run on my Colt 6920 lower or on a more recently purchased PSA lower. So I have a service request in to PSA to get their take.

And to top it off, I couldn't get my Labradar to read reliably until I did a factory reset.

Still, beats being in the office. ;)

The Enfield shot well, but was no match for the mighty mini-Springfield. :)

Me either. Every time one of those "guns you regret selling" threads comes up, the only gun I can think of is the .223 "boat paddle" I had for a while. I just "had to have" a .22 centerfire that was as fast as my wife's 22-250 though, so I traded my great .223 boat paddle Ruger in on a Kimber 22-250. My only conciliation is knowing everyone makes a mistake once in a while. :uhoh:

6 Dasher - Altus Shooting Solutions one day PRS match. (At over 2K rounds, the barrel is toast, too many what the heck shots. :))

Still struggling with my Shield 1.0. After much dry firing and 2 sight adjustments I think I might be getting the upper hand. FB1B1C5C-0322-44E5-B3FF-FD1828885416.jpeg

I was mainly function testing pocket pistols today with various ammo. Savage 1917, Beretta 418, FN 1910, SW 61-2, Colt .25, Colt 1908. I finished the day with a T Series BHP and a couple of mag dumps through the SP5. Test results were some deep cleaning and further testing is needed for the pockets. The BHP and SP5 were perfect. Conclusion is old school is cool.

17 degrees and shooting into the morning sun. Czech silver tip and Polish light ball at 100 yards. The Czech was minute of garbage can lid whilst the Polish was minute of softball. The polish has always been pretty good in everything I run it through.

Also played around some with my recently acquired Canik Meta SFX with Holosun HE507K-GR X2. It has been a challenge to get myself to look at the dot and not the iron sights. I'm getting there...
