What did you shoot today?

I did not shoot, but I hung a target on a post I set a couple of weeks ago, and drove another shortened T-Post
in the ground to hold the hostage target in its new spot.I set the KYL in the ground when I did the post.

Went from this, only one target at a time...

To this.

I'll be adding another post on the left to hang the big 1/2" X 16" pistol target from. We shoot it with rifles too though.

I shot an MSR chambered in 5.56... at a deer exactly 100 yards from my stand... I have larger calibers but had never taken a deer with an AR... Made what I would call a near perfect broadside shot... 75gr gold dot handloads... He fell, got back up and tried to run but crumpled 15 yards further down the trail... I was impressed with the little bullets performance at prolly 2800 fps on impact... Small entry wound of course but double the size on exit... With impressive internal damage... I'll prolly stick with larger calibers though...

Walkalong: One factor I always prefer is to be able to see Dirt or dust around a solid target.

Because, if I miss, a thick weed or grass-covered area normally conceals impacts which Miss the solid targets, or even distant Shoot N See & Gong targets with a PTR-91.
Which "way" (o'clock), and how far... did I miss ? Seeing almost every impact Outside a target can save lots of ammo being unnecessarily used.

At a friend's club over in the area south of Jaskson TN, if you miss the l200, or much Larger 300 or 400 yard Plates with a PTR-91 (iron sights, whatever...), even my friend can seldom determine where the impact is - unless very lucky, using his Barska spotting scope.

Also, can you use any pure "rifle ammo" on any of your plates?
Our huge private club (acreage, many ranges and membership) allows only non-magnum handgun rounds on metal plates, because a large weld/bolt might get cracked.

Yesterday I went to the public range in a nearby national forest. It was in the mid-20's temperature-wise; not your typical Central Arkansas weather. I shot 15 Winchester 9mm FMJ and 5 Monarch brand (Serb made I think) 9mm FMJ out of my full size Ruger SR9 pistol. I discharged 15 rounds of "American Tactical" 7.5 shot .410 out of my Rossi "Tuffy" snake charmer type shotgun. It was my second time out for the "Tuffy" and I made a mental note to buy a recoil pad for this gun, which I purchased this morning at Wally World. The cold was rather unpleasant so I left a little earlier than anticipated. Still, even a little practice hones one's skills.

It's been a month since I've been able to get to the range. I finally managed to take my Black Mamba and my 617 with me today. I've been playing with different ammo and trigger pull on the 617. It's down to 7 pounds and reliably fires Remington Golden Bullets. I put 200 rounds down range without a misfire.

The Mamba needed a slight sight adjustment. I fired 200 rounds of CCI Blazer and everything started shooting 1 inch below the center dot. Cranked the sight and now I'm dead on at 15 yards which will be good for my 25 and 35 yard targets during Steel Challenge matches.

I had waited over one year after shelling out some money on a Banish 30 silencer and yesterday the USPS dropped it off in front of my door without even ringing the bell and also kindly signing the receipt for me.

I shot it today and really do like it. Accuracy is as good as before.

Hooda Thunkit,

yes, it is a long wait but it is getting shorter. Anyway, it is worth it. It is very nice to shoot a centerfire rifle politely without the disturbing noise and it's well worth the money and the wait.

CZ PCR (75D) with the new "Firing pin Retainer pin (roll pin) from Cajun Gun Works...These also are hollow (recommended to preserve the Firing Pin) and are —harder— than Retainer pins produced by CZ.

Czechpoint VZ-58 sporter, with reddish "beaver barf" furniture.

PTR-91 'A3SK', a clone variation of the HK-91 (Val Kilmer uses the German HK in the drive-in movie scene, in Heat: Youtube).

Clay pigeons on the 50 yard berm were the targets. The only targets.

Posted in the reloading forum earlier but I shot my Marlin 1895G in 45-70 this afternoon. Middle target was 5 rounds of Armscor 300gr JHP for adjusting my zero and the other three targets were 5,5, and 4 rounds of 405gr lead bullets handloaded over 43.0gr of VV N135. They are Springfield trapdoor spec loads but they still thump the shoulder a bit lol. I guess you can't argue with physics...

Spent s few hours at the gun club with my son on Monday.
I shot several of my .357Magnum revolvers and my Taylor's lever action carbine in .357Magnum.
Shot all four .41Magnum revolvers, a few magazines through one of my 1911s in .45ACP, a few magazines through my son's Glock 10mm and finished up shooting several of my .45Colt revolvers.
Never got around to shooting any 9mm, .40S&W or .44Magnum revolvers.
I know my son shot quite a few rounds of .44Magnum through some of my revolvers and he did shoot a few cylinders full of .30Carbine with my BlackHawk plus he shot some .357 and .41Magnum handguns along with some .45Colt revolvers.

We didn't take the .45Colt and .44Magnum lever actions, the .44Spl or .38Spl revolvers or the .357Max or .375SuperMag this trip.
I doubt we shot even half the .357Mag revolvers or .45Colt revolvers we had with us.

We were trying to limit our shooting as our primer inventory is getting very low and we are both hoping the $100/thousand price tag comes down a bit before we run completely out of primers.

Savage model 25 .204 Ruger gets to ride in the backseat for awhile. The wind has been down the last few days so it is tolerable to shoot again. Put 10 rounds each day into the 200 yard plate to keep the shooting eye in shape.

Sig P938 I just picked up last week. 106 rounds, 4 different brands of ammo (1 fmj, 3 HP). Only one hiccough, a FTF with a brand that I had had a lot of trouble with in other guns.

I drove out to the range fairly early today as showers were predicted around noon. I took my Chinese SKS and my Smith and Wesson Model 10-9 .38 Special with the two inch barrel. I shot 40 rounds of Tula FMJ through the Simonov. The accuracy was only fair at 100 yards. Last weekend I shot the SKS using Brown Bear and a smaller number of "Monarch" branded Imported 7.62X39 and my accuracy was quite good. I'm not swearing off Tula, but I made a mental note about it. I shot the .38 (Fiocchi 158 gr. FMJ) at about 7 yards and all was well. I've been shooting the Taurus 605 .357 quite a bit more lately and I missed the feel of the very nice factory rubber grips on that revolver. Perhaps the S&W could use some soft grips in the future.

View attachment 1130010 View attachment 1130011 View attachment 1130012That's 10 rounds from 10 yds standing on that squirrel. All incapacitating.

That was Federal Auto Match in the MK2. I had some Winchester Super X and it was garbage. Poor accuracy, varied reports, and recoil. The Fed AM was great. I've found that Auto Match and CCI Blazer are the best for across-the-board shooting in rifles/handguns. My wife was buying me the Auto Match whenever she saw it at WM.
