I have heard that Lee dies are too short to work in the Hornaday lnl ap! Is there anything to that statement? I have two 4 die sets of Lee carbide dies (45ACP and 38/357) and a 4 die set of Lyman dies for 9mm Luger. I want to go progressive and am down to choosing between a Dillon 550-B or the Hornaday ap. I don't want to get into a Blue/Red conflict......but...... Have any of you had problems with Lee/Lyman dies in EITHER of these presses:confused: The dies won't be a deal breaker......I just want to be sure I look at all the "angles" here :scrutiny:

I use Lee dies in a Hornady LnL AP, they work fine except the FCD in the 5th station hits the ejection wire.

In my Dillon 550 I sue Dilon, RCBs, Hornady, Lee and Lyman dies. I prefer to use the Dillon dies when loading lead bullets since one can readilly remove the bulet seaqting stem for clening without disturbing the die set up.

The new LNL doesn't have the ejection wire, so any dies can be used in the 5th station. On my LNL, with the ejection wire, some crimp dies work in the 5th station and some don't. When I'm loading a caliber that the crimp die won't work with the wire, I simply turn the wire up and pick the rounds off as I'm ready to insert the next case.

Hope this helps.

Hornady seating dies also disassemble and reassemble for cleaning without messing up the settings. Just pull the clip off the bottom of the die, and everything that comes in contact with the bullet falls out in your hand. They also can crimp while seating, have a sliding alignment sleeve for better bullet alignment, work with an optional micrometer adjustment, and come with lock rings that keep the adjustment even if you remove the die from the press.

Ergo, how old are your Lee dies? I've got dies for .357, .40, .44 and .45 from the late 80s...you think they'd still work in the new model LNL?

My Lee dies are of recent manufacture. I'd think yours would work, but I don't really know.

I have the new LNL with EZject and use older Lee Dies and use the FCD in the fifth station with no problems. The EZject is so far ahead of their old wire ejector it will put tears in your eyes.
