I have watched the TV show "24" for a few years now, and I am wondering what make and model pistol does Jack use? I'm not sure what he used in earlier episodes, but I am wanting a pistol like the one he used in the 5th season.

Any help is appreciated.

I hope you're not basing your choice of handguns on what a fictional character is using. Although I would like the Ebony and Ivory handguns from the Devil May Cry video games. :)

Do a search for "Jack Bauer guns" and you'll get loads of info.

off his wikipedia entry:

Jack has carried two pistols throughout the entire run of the series. In Days 1 and 2, he carried a SIG P229. Later, in Days 3–6, he had a Heckler & Koch USP Compact, chambered in 9 mm. He has also used several different weapons occasionally, usually taken from terrorists or borrowed from SWAT team. These include (in approximate order of appearance) the regular Heckler & Koch USP, the Beretta 92FS, the Smith & Wesson Model 60, the Colt M4A1, the MAC-10, the Heckler & Koch G3, the Heckler & Koch G36C, the Heckler & Koch SR9T, the Smith & Wesson Model 66, the Accuracy International AWP, the AKMS, the Ruger Mini-14, the Heckler & Koch P2000, the Mossberg 590 and its Mariner variant, the SIG P225, the Heckler & Koch SL8, the Walther P99, the Mossberg 500, the Makarov PM, the Beretta Px4 Storm and the Heckler & Koch MP7.

An interesting note, however, is that although his weapon of choice in the later seasons has been the Heckler & Koch USP Compact, he has used the same model firearm - a Beretta 92FS - in several of the most monumental scenes of the entire series, including the interrogation of computer programmer Alex Hewitt towards the end of Day 2, the killing of Nina Myers, and the threatening of James Heller at the end of Day 6.[citation needed]

He also uses several knives, including the Microtech HALO III and improvised knives such as a pair of surgical scissors.[7] Throughout the latter series, Jack has used his messenger bag or "Jack Pack" to organize and carry all his field equipment

Add a Glock to that list. In season one he grabbed one from one of the kidnapper guards and used it to cover his(and his wife and daughter's) escape from the compound. Not sure what model it was, but it was a full sized.

2trans; Nothing like that at all. I just liked the looks of his pistol. Otherwise, I would LOVE to have the MB2A1A .50 cal sniper rifle from SOCOM: Combined Assault. You know, just for....... "plinking"!

Piranha; Thanks for the info. I believe the H&K is the one I am looking for.

Oh please! I bought a Beretta 92FS once because of Lethal Weapon. I admit it :D

Correction

Through much of Day 1 Jack actually used a SigP228, I believe it was the two tone.

And the final scene when he single handedly attacks a dozen terrorists armed w AK's  he uses a 229 and a SigPro.

Thank heavens for DVD still/zoom functions.

Man, a whole lot of single actions got sold because our dads and granddads sat around and watched cowboy movies. It might not be the smartest reason to buy a particular gun, but on the other hand, why not? Speaking only for myself, I have enough guns that I don't have any problem getting interested in and perhaps even purchasing a gun because fictional character owns one. In fact, this is exactly why I want a bowcaster.

Don't forget James Bonds PPK

And

Ole' Clint Eastwood's Model 29.

Movies/television has always sold a particular model of firearm. It is the same medium that makes folks think they are knowledgeable about firearms too.

Go figure

Fred

Don't be mean, I've bought guns b/c of games or movies. Fortunately all the pistols were well researched and thought out before I bought them.

After extensive research, I believe he used the H&K USP Compact 9mm, Variant 1, with a stainless slide. This is what I am looking for. It's a DA/SA with decocker and saftey on the left side. Now I have to find a dealer to get one.

Any idea how much the prices run on these?

Knowing how production sets and "props" work, he carries what ever was handed to him when that scene was shot! I LOVE to critique movies when the handgun the character has in hand changes from scene to scene often!

LOL:D

HK doesn't make the stainless USP compact any more so you will have to pry it out of the hands of another gun owner.

Or just buy the HE finish.
I just picked up a USP compact last night at the LGS, so now I have to start watching "24".

I watched "collateral" because Tom Cruise used the Full Size USP that I have.

You appreciate a movie more when the actors use "your gun"

did any of you see gone in sixty seconds last night? the bad guy with a Walther PPK had 17 rounds in it. I was impressed with the single stacker. lol

Good Info.
I always assumed Jack's HK was a P2000, so it is nice to know he carries the USP. I admit making a choice of gun purchase from a TV show probably isn't the best way, but the HK's have a good reputation so you probably won't go wrong. Besides what kind of red blooded American doesn't want to be like Jack? Anyway good luck with your purchase, you sure picked an expensive one.

Gimme a break. I got into 1911's 'cause of my love for film noir and gangster movies like Last Man Standing.

Whatever works for getting people in the door! Come because of the movies, stay for the people and sport!

So for guns in tv shows and movies, do actors just use realistic copies of real firearms that just shoot blanks?
It varies. Sometimes I hear that they use Airsoft, sometimes just a rubber or plastic gun (thus the apparent light weight in some movies). Sometimes they may use a blanked-up real gun. Gunshots/muzzle blast in the first few are put in after the fact.

There is a thread on the 1911 forum and on HKPro - a Guy's sone is in business with Keifer Sutherland - and he got to visit the set and take pics and talk with him on the set (pics were posted). Apparently - the Hks were chosen primarily because they worked the most reliably with blanks w/o as many problems. That's how Jack got his UPSc.

KILL COUNT / Weapon Used

I'm not sure what he used in earlier episodes, but I am wanting a pistol like the one he used in the 5th season.

Here you go, here is every kill made to date, and the 'weapon' used, not always a firearm, but should give you an idea what was used each episode of each season, down to each kill:

You can link to each season from there, but the default is season 5, since that what you wanted. Pasted below:
