What does your gunshop (local or internet) lack?

I would be content with any local firearms store in this god-forsaken town,if wal mart aint got it it's an hour away at the least

Gotta agree with Mike. Half of the shops are not worth bothering with, the others are very limited in scope. My favorite in the service arena is Virginia Arms, but they don't have much I'm interested in (but they can order most anything).

My favorite shop anywhere is Bryansteens Gun and Archery in Roanoke, Va. They have an excellent selection of new/used rifles, handguns, ammo, reloading supplies, accessories, etc. I run by there every time I'm in Roanoke. If I lived nearby, I would not need to send any money to Midway again.

Wow!

I see a lot of similar complaints listed. Most of which, I had gathered from my expeiences prior to getting into the business of firearms sales. Fortunately, I found a super guy, from whom we acquired our shop, and the rest is history. I do still have some queries, though. So then, if the customer service reps are less than desirable, do you take your lumps and make your purchase anyway? Or, do you research your options on the web, buy online, and have your local shopp do the transfers for you?

Be well!

And thank you all for your participation. Your input is greatly appreciated!

No, I don't take my lumps.
There is nothing I want bad enough to reward a jerk with my money.
We have two shops here where I live. One guy is a real jerk, I won't even go to the store. The other guy is OK. He doesn't make much effort-if the deal isn't easy, he won't do it. In other words, if the two wholesalers he does business with don't carry it, foget it. If he frustrates me too much, I drive 70 miles to another shop and buy it there. As long as other options exist, I won't cater to someone that doesn't treat me right.

My biggest gripe is an owner who claims to be a gunsmith, but isn't. Most of the shooters who are in a gun club have heard about him and stay away. But pitty the people who don't shot as much as we do or don't know of his reputation and go to him for help.

I was rebuilding an old percussion lock. Called gunshop to see if they had a 6-40 tap. Employee said"why are you calling here, this is a gunshop".? I told him I once thought so too, but obviously was wrong. :banghead:
