What gun(s) are you being buried with when you die and why?

In an ideal world I would like all my firearms to go to my son if he is capable and wants them when he gets older. Other than that they would be sold as part of my estate after death. One will go in my will to be donated to a particular family.

Wasn't meant as a personal attack friend.
You wanted opinions, that's mine.
There is something I want done when I'm gone that most others don't want as well, so you're not alone.
I don't want to be cremated or embalmed. I just want to be buried. No vault, no preservation.
I want to simply return to the earth. I want to decay and have flora and fauna dine on me as I have dined on them while I'm alive. It's nature's way, and it's a good way. I simply want to be recycled back into the universe. I can't think of anything more beautiful or poetic than that. And some folks think I'm crazy. And that's okay.

I've looked into how to do this and it is possible to do so legally, but requires very careful planning.
Not crazy at all.....
Yet a few days, and thee
The all-beholding sun shall see no more
In all his course; nor yet in the cold ground,
Where thy pale form was laid, with many tears,
Nor in the embrace of ocean, shall exist
Thy image. Earth, that nourished thee, shall claim
Thy growth, to be resolved to earth again,
And, lost each human trace, surrendering up
Thine individual being, shalt thou go
To mix for ever with the elements,
To be a brother to the insensible rock
And to the sluggish clod, which the rude swain
Turns with his share, and treads upon. The oak
Shall send his roots abroad, and pierce thy mould.
Yet not to thine eternal resting-place
Shalt thou retire alone, nor couldst thou wish
Couch more magnificent. Thou shalt lie down
With patriarchs of the infant world—with kings,
The powerful of the earth—the wise, the good,
Fair forms, and hoary seers of ages past,
All in one mighty sepulchre. The hills
Rock-ribbed and ancient as the sun,—the vales
Stretching in pensive quietness between;
The venerable woods—rivers that move
In majesty, and the complaining brooks
That make the meadows green; and, poured round all,
Old Ocean’s gray and melancholy waste,—
Are but the solemn decorations all
Of the great tomb of man.
From “Thanatopsis” W.C. Bryant (“Poems” 1821)

Way back in time I remember reading an article about a Confederate veteran of the Civil War.

Someone posted one of those death photos of him in his casket on a genealogy site,,,
He was in full military regalia with a brace of pistols, his rifle, and saber.

Less than a month after that pistol was posted his grave was found, dug up, and robbed.

I was going to give them to my sons, but after reading Total Recoil's post (#34), I want a pyramid too:)

Erik M asked:
This has turned out to be a far more philosophical thread than I expected.

I agree.

But, I think that when people have to confront eternity, even in a hypothetical question about their guns, they tend to get religious or philosophical.

I'm glad you posted this question.

First off I'm being cremated or shot out of a cannon after I pass away.

If there is no one who want to inherit my firearms then I choose two.

1. FN Mauser inherited from my grandfather (I'm surprised it never got sporterized)

2. My 50s K-frame 22LR

My late father-in-law was a 1911 guy to his inner core. During his visitation his 1911 Colt Combat Commander was placed in his right hand. Before closing the casket for the funeral his son removed it and took it home with him.

Um, none. I don't want to be buried with anything of value since I have no use for it.

Heck once I get into "older" years (ie, 60-65) I'll probably sell off the vast majority of my collection and whittle down to a half-dozen or so. Basically enough to use but I don't have kids (nor any nephews - 3 nieces), so I don't really care about leaving them to anyone. Better to have fun with the money from selling them while I can than to take a chunk of metal to the grave.

I believe your born, you live, you die, end of. I want to be cremated preferable wrapped in a sack. I have a couple of people in mind who will get some of my guns who i hope will enjoy them as much as i have. But its not over yet so still plenty more bullets to fire.

A local university has a forensic farm where they bury dead bodies so future CSIs can study decomposition. That is where I want my worn out body going, so no firearms are coming with me.
