What happened to all the old store brand guns?

Here are my four, one for everyone in the house. Took me two years to find them from four different places in the Country. All Armslist purchases from dealers. Two even came with the original Glenfield scopes.View attachment 848670

Oh man, that one on the far right is so sweet.
I am a sucker for half magazine Marlins. I don't own one yet, but will soon.

I had a Revelation .30-30 (obviously made by Marlin) that I stupidly let get away about 17 years ago. I've kicked myself many times since then.

Certainly not the one I own. We use to shoot doves in Ariz. with it. More doves than I have ever seen. Gun ran great. Took down many deer with it as well In NC and VA.. I no longer shoot it, just too heavy and have moved on. But have many fond memories of that old shotgun.
Hmmm.
The only High Standard Supermatic that I know of is a pistol....now I find out that they made a shotgun of the same name. Learned somethin’ new.

I was browsing eBay, and ended up winning a 20" Mossberg barrel, with the 7 shot mag tube and spring, for $100...
So, my Western Auto Revelation (Mossberg 500) looks like this, now... IMG_20190811_135957.jpg

Somewhere there’s is a website listing all the store brands with the major manufacturers model #.

They are still around. If you aren't a "gun snob" you can pick up some very nice guns off the used gun racks at a decent price, just because they wear names like Sears Roebuck, Western Auto, or Montgomery Ward.

I have a sears o/u that was made by Zoli in Italy, nice gun, BUT it says sears roebuck on it.
That is the value killer, if it was a importer it would be worth twice it is now.

Store brands killed the value of many very nice guns.

Depends on your perspective. I look at it as store brand guns being bargains.

I have a Voere 2117 22 semi. It has the original Voere markings, along with a tiny "Ted Williams" stamp on the barrel. I got it for $99 marked as a "Sears 22".

I also have two J.C. Whitney Model 50s. FN commercial Mauser action, chrome lined barrel by High Standard. They are very accurate, and available at a fraction of what an FN goes for.
