7-08 got shot and loaded for. Am enjoying getting back into a shooting and loading groove.

New scope is dialed in well, everything is GTG it appears so if the weather folks are right? we have some snow, and miserable conditions headed. Me and the dog will be out on our hike/hunts again..... now with 12X optics:thumbup:

Loaded some 300wm in Federal cases with RL-23 just to compare with the H4831sc ladder that I already have waiting to chonograph. Tumbled some 308 cases for my son in law. Mounted a Lee Classic 4 hole to the bench and ordered an Auto Drum for it.

Last night I decided to start figuring a .223 plinking load with 62gr fmj's and Ramshot X-Terminator since I'm on my last lb of benchmark. Loaded up a ladder with that, and did a fair amount of bench cleaning/organizing after.

IALoder I've been working with a 62gr FMJBT and Ramshot TAC. That load runs 21.6 - 24.7 and found a sweet spot at 23.7/23.8.. There might be another node higher up but so far I haven't pursued it.

50 more rounds of 45ACP 230gr RN over 5.0 gr bullseye. I love my JBWeld modified stem—nice consistent OAL.

Your range job seems to be working out really well for you! Good going! Did you solve the clothing problem of staying warm that you posted about a while back?

I'm using the Hornady 62gr FMJ's, I was planning on using TAC with them next, but I've used AA2230 with these 62's with good results, and supposedly X-Terminator is VERY similar(used to be the same powder?). I have a couple lbs of X-Terminantor on the shelf, so might as well use it! Hoping it runs well, then I can save my TAC for 75gr BTHP's!

I haven't done much in the loading room lately. I have a rifle build in the works and I may spend the afternoon prepping some 308 cases for it. Most of my days right now are spent either feeding the fireplace or the birds. They are really hitting the feeders!

This is rather ironic, after going out and buying suitable wear the temps plummeted and the range all but nearly shut down. I've worked 2 days this month and those were at the very beginning of the month. Though I just talked with our manager and looks like I will now work Sat., it's finally supposed to warm up. But yes the job is great and I've started missing not being there!

That is the bullet I've been using and so far I like it enough that I just bought another 500. I also have some 2460 and BL-2(C) to try with it. I got to that 23.7/23.8gr load and stopped. At 100yds it was shooting clover leafs in my Savage Axis so I didn't see the point of going further.

Now I have a box of 100 Hornady 68gr HPBT I'm thinking of trying with that TAC or the BL-2C. Might try a workup of 50 ea. of both and see what happens.

I've been using A2230/Xterminator with 55 gr. premium HP from Midsouth and pulled 62 grain Fed Fusions. Works great and yeah, they are the same powder.

    .
My rifles prefer them over the 55's by a long ways accuracy wise. Had really good luck with them using Benchmark and AA2230. TAC does very well with 69 SMK's for me, I bet it'll be good with those 68's! Thanks @NR53 , I knew AA2230/X-Terminator were super similar, just wasn't sure if they were the same powder! I might try the X-Terminator with 150gr FMJ's in .308 as well.

I can testify that it works well with 150 gr in 308.

Got to sit down and weigh out about 72-9mm rounds after I had 2 squibs to try and find any more light loads.. I weighed up a few spent cases, and tried to estimate what they should weigh, by adding all the components together. Came up with a range of 177.1-183.0 gr.
I had a range of 176.5-184.0 grains. the majority were 177.5gr.
I weighed some ammo inc loads and they were at 177.5gr on avg rated at 1128ft/s. The ft/s is pretty close with my loads being slightly higher according to Hodgdons site 115 gr berryrn 5.0 gr CFEP 1.10oal
    https://shop.hodgdon.com/reloading-data-center?rdc=true&type=53&_ga=2.160102845.1279254839.1613610689-2020006594.1608232859

But due to the 6 gr variance in random cases, I'm going to pull them all. But not right away.

Also going to move my APP later I see a better layout for my bench.

Curious Do I have too much crimp on the bullets? This is one of the squibs after removal..

Got my order of hard cast .358 125 gr bullets in yesterday along with my 500 pieces of 38 special brass. After work this afternoon I decided to try a few with some old HS-6 and some 231 WW powder from the early/mid 90's. 6.0 grains of HS-6 and 4.0 grains of 231 all went boom in my old trusty Ruger SS 6" barreled revolver. At 20 yards off hand the HS-6 loads put 6 rounds in a 4x4 inch square box and the 231 WW powder loads did about the same in a 4 inch circle on an old silhouette target on the backstop. Recoil was very light with the HS loads and just a tiny bit more aggressive with the 231 loads. I may be shooting the old 357 a little more often, and I didn't have to look for empty brass for a change. Price on the 231 WW can was $13.95. Price on the HS-6 was $16.50, just for reference.

I got cabin fever tonight and loaded some 30-06 180 sp hornady, H4831sc, just to compare with the RL-17 and 4064 I already loaded. I put these in Rem cases with case weight of 194 to 195. Col 2.219 to 2.224. Started at 53gr and stopped at 56gr in 1/2gr increments. Will fine tune to 1/10th gr after chrono and grouping of all three powders tells me which one I'll ride with from then on.
Gonna chrono these in my Howa and then compare in my 700cdl. The Howa is not as accurate as the 700 using the Precision Hunter Eldx that I usually shoot, so I'm curious to see if the Howa likes one of these test rounds better.

Just now finished loading up some test loads of 223. 6ea with a Hornady 68gr HPBT Match and Ramshot TAC powder. Data lists start at 22.1gr to 24.4 Max. I started at 22.6 then 22.9, 23.1 and 23.5 to start with. As usual I will shoot these in two 3 round groups on separate targets then overlay them into a composite.

I decided to re-organize safe #3 with these holsters I ordered. Was getting to cluttered and this open up some space for my spotting scope and high dollar fishing reels. IMG_1747.jpeg

Not a thing, I'm a slacker this week. One of my guys at work bought a .357 a couple of weeks ago and brought me some fired .38 Spl brass with a "can you load these for me" plea, he can't find ammo. I'll likely break down and load the less than 50 cases for him this weekend, no charge, with a "make it last" caveat. :)
