    Got lucky tonight and didn't need to trim any of the .223 or .308 I sized last night! Instead I primed and loaded them with IMR4166. 44gr in a Hornady large letter headstamp (less case cap) .308 case with a 150gr FMJ is a really full case! The only thing that was kind of a pain was that 4166 seemed to bridge in the case mouth a lot while pouring it in .223's, never really had any other powders I've tried in .223 do that.

    Loaded a few lots of 223 for my buddies ar. He had 3 different powders blc-2 cfe-223 and that imr4166. The IMR powder was a pain compared to the others. It left me with a bad taste and I will avoid it in the future.

    Loaded a ladder test of 18 rounds of 30-30 for my buddy’s BFR. 170gr. FPGC cast over H335. I may size and trim some 375 H&H brass this evening for loading tomorrow if I have time.

    Oh well,you win some,lose some;

    Cast some 150g Lee's this a.m. Standard,semi go fast alloy. All's good,they drop .3005 on the noses and .310 on the body.... just perfect.

    Get to the new 6.5 NOE and all I can say is WOW. It drops a whopping .272 on what should've been .264 + .002-3. At .272 it's .008" over. I'll contact NOE and see what they say? I've got 50+ moulds and this is easily the most out of whack,oversized of the bunch.

    Not gonna bust on NOE but,dang..... after hearing they are such GREAT moulds,to say I'm disappointed is an understatement.

    OK, went to put up the casting cart after it all cooled down and found the problem with the 6.5 mould. Printed on box,and mould is "269 145FN".... so it isn't a 6.5mm(264) it's a 269 + .003

    No use to me,will sell it for 50$ plus shipping.

    20210825_120813.jpg loaded up a test ladder of my new 200 swc and silhouette. Tried the book oal and it punks just dandy. Some day I may be settled down on a load and just do some bulk but today is not that day. 7.6-8.4 grains in .2 grain steps. The top charge is my favorite in 357 it may be a little spicy in 45 but we will see.

    I still work so the only thing I did about reloading today was go through some of my old notes that been scanned to the cloud. Seems I used to load 150gr Speer JHP’s for .357mag a bit hot over 2400 for hunting with the Contender. I might have to see if I can find some of those 150’s again.

    I ended up getting 140xtps biased on a video on JRB. I havent worked them up yet but I was torn 158 vs 140 for hunting/sd. Have you had any real world kills with both to compare.

    Last night, loaded up about 200 rounds of 55 grain FMJ 223 and tonight, mounted my Burris PEPR mount and Bushnell Banner 2, 3-9X40 scope on my "Franken-Rifle" AR in 223 Wylde. Now have to find some time to go to the range and sight it in. Decided that while the red dot was OK, I wanted to have a little better than a 5 MOA optic on it.

    I made 80 beautiful rounds of .300 Blackout with Barnes Tac-Tx 120 gr. BT's and H110. Ran a test a couple weeks ago using Barnes data and 17.4 gr. was the winner.

    Put away the "Resupply" of N140, 77smks, and the couple pounds of N135 I got from midsouth to try. I'm wondering how different this new N140 will be from the N140 I'm on the last of that was bottled in 2007....

    Not them but the 125gr XTP over 14.5gr of 2400 is a good 50yard deer or pig load from my NEF Handi-Rifle. I tend to prefer heavier bullets but I went through a speed over mass phase for a while and tried the 110gr GDHP as well. Either one works good if you can punch them in the heart or base of the skull. I tried the 135gr GDHP last spring and they were about like the XTP’s. I won’t use pistol hollow points on hogs unless I’m pushing 1300fps and closer than 75yards.

    I didnt want to go with less than 140s based on flame cutting. Never read anything wrong with 140s and heavier. Based on discussions here I dont know that I want to load anything slower than RS silhouette in a 4". Should keep me way away from the danger zone.
