Free 45-70 brass is not anything I'd complain about in this day and age lol. After all I can reload for darn near free compared to what me and dad have been seeing at gunshows for factory ammo prices! Like 80 plus bucks for stuff that's 45-50 at Academy lol. And don't get me started on 30-30...

I rifled through two vaults looking for a pair of Star PD grips and came across a box of miscellaneous grips I need to pass along eventually. I seem to have become something of a grip hoarder. 
I hate that short Hornady 45-70 brass. I'll set it aside when I find it at the range and probably offer it up on the "Pay it forward" thread here.
This is why you and I reload the 45-70 270OKIE. Have you had a chance to try the bullets I sent you yet??

I have the style on the right that gets progressively larger. I'm looking to try any other shape at ths point. I don't mind ordering a nice set but I don't even know my preference at this point other than I hate my current style. My dad had a 686 with hogue grips that was wonderful, but he got rid of that years ago and I can't remember them well enough to gamble on randomly buying stocks.FWIW I put Hogue grips on my Lawman. The ones all the real gun guys complain about.
I'm waiting till pay day to order that 8lb jug of N135 I was telling y'all about... Sigh I'm currently a government lackey (aka school bus mechanic) and get paid once a month lol.

Two days of Christmas in November. I received my order of fired 6.8 SPC brass and spent the day annealing, sizing, and now working on trimming the cases. Only lost one Hornady case to a decapitated primer. I' ve only had that happen to 38 Spl cases in the past. I'm suspecting they washed but didn't quickly dry this brass, judging by the verdigris inside the primer pockets. No matter...I'll wet tumble them with s/s pics once everything is trimmed.

I just returned from lunch with a buddy. He gave me a handful of loaded cartridges for my collection. A LC53 AP round, a 25-40 and a couple of RA43 AP rounds with what I call the aviation primer crimp. I just logged them into my master cartridge list.

You're right about that! Our new house has a gas log fireplace. A lot less work than the wood burning fireplace in our last house but not near as comforting either.

Finished the 450 cases of 357 for junior with 8.4 Silhouette that I got from my dad of starline brass. I completely prepped the brass just like I found it on the range as a pickup. It's the second biggest run of ammo I have ever done, I did 500 223 once and that wasn't so fun. Should have enough for 5 matches next year including sightseers. If he is really conservative he could shoot an entire season, but he should also practice. My cast bullet supply is smoked so back to casting again....
I loaded up the range bag for a hopefully decent range day over the holiday week/weekend. Hoping to challenge my dad and brother to a little bit of a pistol “shoot out“. If it transpires, I need to make sure my brother drink some coffee that morning… It really gives him the jitters… or I might mess around with the black powder stuff this weekend as well because black powder season starts the first… That doesn’t have much to do with reloading though.

Researched 6.5 Grendel loads. On hand I have Starline brass, CCI 400 primers, Hornady 123 grain SSTs, and Varget, TAC, and Accurate 2520. Think I'll build my first loads with 2520.

My reloading room is also my gun room, so today I made a little stand for my cleaning vise out of scrap wood. I clean all my rifles from the action end, on the right side. But the way my room is set up, when I have to clean Garands from the muzzle end (don't worry, I have a barrel protector), it was awkward propping up the rifle with the muzzle pointed to the right.
Scrap pieces in the work shop:
Constructed and installed with a victim waiting. I used a Tee nut in the vise so I can install/remove in seconds. As you can tell, I built my bench vise as prototype 25 years ago. It's still working so I haven't made the final version yet.

Hmmm. Well, maybe I should not mention this but…
The shop I worked attached to MacDac had a 1st shift lead who came in early to make a six gallon pot of coffee for his shifts. Everyone loved his coffee, me included. I came in really early one morning to prep my cutters for the day (12 hour day) and saw him making coffee. He put a full can of Folgers in the percolator basket then topped it with a full bottle of NoDoz. No kidding.
Now, I’m not suggesting anything, I’m just saying. Passing on some ancient wisdom and such.

See, I use a bore snake with a bit of solvent and call it good, I find it funny how many different ways we all clean guns, lol. As long as it works, keep on trucking!
