What have you done in the reloading room today

What is a 'stripper die?'
It is the die that slides the case off the shell plate for the swage kit, it is the last die of the three for swaging on the AP. One aligns the case to the rod then it makes its way to the swage die, then the stripper die. If I run a tube to a box I do not need to manually remove the case as it will push them through the tube so all I have to do is feed a case through the alignment die and keep pulling the handle. Everything is done at the top stroke.

Just to see if it could be done:

Extra lube, Lee .308 sizing die with decapper and ferrule removed. Then a long time in the Lee Quick Trim die with power trimmer. Wanted to see if it was possible on cheap equipment. One time was enough. Neck is same 0.020" as resized factory .308.

I have plenty of .30/06, which only my oldest son still shoots. Not so much .308. The M1A gets hungry, someone is sweeping all of the brass up at my local range in the middle of the night (caught him Saturday an hour before sunup). I have never paid for brass, don't intend to start now 😉. Not worth it, IMHO, but good to know that it can be done if needed.

More PIF stuff boxed and labeled up for some good folks at THR!

Not from today but last time I loaded.

.50ae w/lee 440gr using power pistol. I’m chasing max fill and burn for subsonic loads. Been using the 500gr xtp’s and the 440gr lees.

Ordered a garmin chronograph and was hoping to test these before I was put down via surgery. Ordered 2 different times with 2 different companies that had them in stock. Then a week later was informed they were out of stock and then on back order. Even with the second company giving me a tracking number. Cancelled the order and will wait till a Black Friday deal.

Anyways. A picture of the ammo in process. IMG_4022.jpeg IMG_3376.jpeg IMG_3348.jpeg

Well I did a little load and shoot today with some 44 Mag and Power Pistol, inspired by another recent thread in the forum. Had no primers at all on any APS strips, so I put together every strip I had with pistol primers, large and small. Kind of a necessity for today's action. Tumbled up the 200 1 fire 44 Mag cases I was recently given. Mostly Remington, we'll use those for light practice ammo. Took an inventory on our 22lr stock, crickey I've got more than I thought. Should be covered for the rest of year.
You bet...these boxes contain a complete collection of Car& Driver and Road&Track from the mid 60s to mid-70s, and almost complete MotorTrend and others of the same vintage. I cannot bear to trash them after all these years despite their being essentially worthless.
Oh man, tell me you got the C&D issue with the 68 Roadrunner test in it. That probably get $$ out of me.

I'll check. Here it is. If interested, PM me. No charge. You know, hard to stomach but old muscle cars weren't any faster than today's mini-vans. IMG_4819.jpeg IMG_4817.jpeg IMG_4818.jpeg

Yes, and the Mustang was the Prius of its day: a secretary’s car built for mileage and ease of parking. I know people hate being reminded of this but all of our wonderful, beautiful old revolvers - S&W 10, 15, 19, etc and the Colts Detective Special, Police Positive, Official Police and even the Snake Guns - were originally created for the drudgery of daily holster carry.

We can squeeze so much more out of these terrible plastixfantastix in terms of accuracy and longevity - but then we’re back to the drudgery of a working tool.

Now that the weather is finally cooling down, I spent a few hours this morning sorting, organizing and getting my reloading bench ready for reloading later this week after taking the summer off. My garage is too hot to reload in the dog days of summer.

I got a screaming deal on a Smith and Wesson M&P Bodyguard 380 ACP over the weekend, so I am finally back to reloading 380. My 380 dies have sat idle for well over 15 years. I also cleaned my Hornady 380 dies in prep for some reloading later this week.

Thanks 45CG. It's high time to hit the reloading bench. I stumbled on a 380 ACP S&W Bodyguard on Saturday. POSTED LINK HERE. I like thin 380 ACP autos for concealed carry. The gun store had actually mis-marked the price. WAY less than it should have been, but they honored the deep discount mistake for me. Amazing. I usually don't get that lucky.

Of course, I'll be reloading 45 Long Colt first and foremost this week. Pics to follow here soon. I have a lever 45 LC on my shopping list this fall.

LV, what is W572 comparable to? Thanks.
I am trying it as I am looking for a replacement for Blue Dot , Winchester Auto Comp is 40 on Hodgdons 2024 Relative Burn Rate Chart CFE Pistol is 41 , W572 is 45 , Blue Dot is 46 and Accurate #7 is 47 and Long Shot is 49 . I am trying to find out how close it comes to BD , I tried Long Shot but was thrilled with it . I mainly got it to try in 357 and 44 magnum but I am tryout also in 9mm , 38 super and 40 S&W tried it in 45 auto but didn’t like it just to slow.
