Just some final organizing and prep for my weekend of reloading today, gents. More of an excuse to sit at the bench and listen to music than anything else at this point. The bench is looking pretty, pretty, pretty good. (Apologies to Larry David).
I decided to load a small amount (25 rounds) of 45 LC just to get the rhythm going again on the press after a summer off. Making sure the digital scale worked and agreed with the balance scale, and that all my equipment was in top shape and ready to go for marathon reloading this weekend.
Funny side-bar story. I had an Etsy/eBay seller custom fabricate some 45 LC reloading trays last fall. He saw my bench photo of the old 1995 Midway wooden reloading blocks, and told me if it were him, he'd stick with the old wooden blocks because they looked cool on my bench and pass on buying his new polycarbonate loading blocks. You have to give it to him for being honest. A man that is in business to sell reloading blocks, and he tells me not to buy his reloading blocks and stay with my old blocks. I bought them anyway. He had to make the 45LC blocks custom for me as his 45 ACP blocks would obviously not fit the rim on a 45 LC. I bought blocks from him that fit every caliber I currently reload for, and the footprint on my bench is much smaller than the wooden block tray footprint, so that frees up shelf space. And the fact that he custom fabricated 45 LC blocks for me at no extra charge is worth the purchase alone.
Out with the old wooden blocks;
In with the new polycarbonate blocks
I like the new blocks. A much sleeker profile, well made, rubber feet for stability and color coded so I know which blocks belong to which caliber;
