I went for 5 days with a few monster crawler jeeps to as far away as you can get in Ca. for 10,000 foot camping .

I carried Sam's Camp Defender on my Maxpedition Sitka pack, which has all the things to sustain me in most conditions .

The Camp Defender was a big hit among the strut your stuff boyz ; around the camp fire glows red and orange on the mirror polish! I battoned it thru the cedar fire wood and it axtually was too sharp for that work, but worked. THEN on one night I had to cut the steaks and vegetables which it did wonderfully.
But when I hiked up to 11400 feet I knew in advance I would have to go lighter in the 4 hour steep hike I planned. To that end I took my Breed Necker

and with a small Bladder fanny pack with a Coolpix Nikon and the 19oz. old Charter Arms .44 Bulldog ;) made it over this

I will get friends to e mail me some.

Any way I feel those 2 blades were an optimum choice for my needs. I did really want a reasonably light and strong 48" composite stave before the end on that hike!

Oh, that's awesome! Sure would have loved to have joined you!

Hope you didn't have to defend the camp -- but John tells me the CDs make great pancake flippers! :D
