What is a good concealed carry gun?

I openly admit to severe bias, but get a good gunbelt (I like Wilderness belts, personally) and a good holster for your 1911. I use both IWB and OWB. I find the OWB a bit more comfortable, but the IWB conceals a little better. Both my carry guns are 5" models, so compact guns aren't a necessity.

HOWEVER: if you've just got the hankering to get a new one, there have been some good recommendations so far.

1) If you leave it in the safe, it doesn't work very well.

2) If it doesn't 'point' naturally, it is fundamentally lacking as a self-defense weapon. This varies from weapon to weapon, and shooter to shooter. You gotta try 'em on, and make up your own mind. I won't carry a J-frame Smith, because they just don't feel right, and I have to -work- to aim. With me, a 1911 is like an extension of the booger hook...

3) You need to be comfortable with it. I know a guy who carries a full-size S&W revolver. And I mean -full- size. Concealed. And it's basically a part of him.

Thank you all for the wealth of information! I think I may just have to talk to my local gun shop about a good leather holster for my 1911 .45. If I can't get a good fit I think I may look into a small snubnose revolver and a pocket hulster. The right fit may be like another wallet.

It is Desert Eagle .50 AE. Only litte bad thing, When you are shooting, cases keep hitting to your fore head.

I carry either a Glock 23 or 27 (40 S&W). I carry both in Don Hume IWB as cross draw, the 27 really disappears under a untucked shirt. Also very comfortable and easy to draw and great for driving.
