I am thinking about either getting a Beretta Storm carbine in 9mm or another AR-15 in 223.

With the cost of ammo these days which is cheaper to shoot????

    223???

    9mm???

How much per round is it?????

That depends on where you buy it, and if you locate a sale.

9mm is about half the cost of .223 per round around these parts. Joe

Agreed with the sale and where you buy comment, but to give you true apples to apples...

I can get box of 50 9mm Monarch-brand (brass cases) for $6. At the same store, I pay $8 for a box of 20 .223 Monarch-brand. (Monarch is Academy's cheapo ammo, since replacing Wolf.)

A quick check on centerfiresystems.com has 1000rds of Wolf .223 at $165 (HP) and 1000rds of Wolf 9mm at $140. Of course, those are cash prices, representing 3% discount, and don't include shipping.

For me, they're the same price/box. However, 9mm come in a box of 50 where the .223 come in a box of 20. That's just the cheap stuff, though. When you get to defense ammo and specialty rounds the prices change quite a bit.
