I was looking at a Smith 22a today but like the looks of the Browning also for 20 bucks diff.
I dont know much about .22 auto's since I shoot revolvers 95 percent of the time....what the best auto in the 250-300 price range?

You can't go wrong with either the Ruger MkIII or Browning Buckmark. Owning both a MkII and a Buckmark, I am definitely a bigger fan of the Browning, but either option would be money well spent.

S&W Model 41 is probably the best current production .22 auto handgun on the market today.

However in the price range you are looking for I would say any of the Ruger Mark pistols and 22/45 would be your best bet.

The Browning Buckmark is very nice as well.

A lot of folks won't believe it, but I shoot a Buck Mark and father-in-law shoots a S&W 41, the accuracy is the same and my trigger is actually better. I'll take the Buck Mark over the S&W or a Ruger any day. With an Ultra Dot 25 mounted on top it is a tack driver.

I'll put the Hammereli Sp-20 up against the M-41 for best current production .22 auto pistol.

But, it that lower price range, I lean toward the Buckmark just for the better feel of the frame

The finest USA manufactured 22 pistol is the S&W Model 41.Amongst the imports teh Walther GSP and the Pardini SP are excelent choces. I have all three and prefer the Pardini for bulseye pistol matches. I used the Walther GSP and S&W41 for many years.

Tony,

The OP specified $250 - $300. If you want to sell me an S&W M41 for that price range, the check is in the mail. :D

If you were looking to spend little more than that I would definitely go with the CZ Kadet.

But at that price, I'd go with a Buckmark or maybe a Beretta Neos, you don't hear much about them so I assume that makes them another sleeper gun like the FNP or Bersa.
