What is the best AR-15 for under $700 out the door?

Better yet, spend $550 on components and another $100 on tools, then build it yourself. You would not believe how easy building an AR15 is. If you can build a Lego set, you can build an AR, and have a great understanding of how the rifles works. You can also save the $100 for tools and buy a complete upper. Just pin it to a complete lower and your done. JSE surplus has great builds and better prices than anyone else anywhere.:D

PSA would be my recommendation, because I own and shoot their products.

I'd avoid Olympic like the plague. Plenty of examples of out of spec parts.

i shoot an oly, not an issue. i think the problems were in the older guns. i bought a used upper that was a 16" gov profile with a ff hanguard on it for 400 that was basically new and then spent 145 on a plumb crazy lower. perfect budget gun. that was ready to go. ive had it for a year and a half.

Palmetto State Armory, no doubt. The only mil-spec AR-15's for under $800 new, and some are under $600.

I'm liking PSA. It looks like I could get a kit and a lower receiver for a little over $600 shipped. Do I have to have special tools to put it together?

If the upper is already complete, all you need is a good set of punches, steel and brass. If you have to build the upper, all you need is a AR15 multi tool, some are better than others, but they all basically have the same features.

Okay thanks. Appreciate the help guys. Now for the hard part, getting $700 together lol.

+1 for PSA. Model 1 sales has had some issues with people getting their credit cards jacked. You can read up on it over on AR15.com.
