Remember that first gun you acquire , do you still have it now? My first gun was a ruger and still have it with over 40000 rds through it and just change the re-coil spring.

Two guns, a gift from our preacher who said his son didn't care about them....1955, I was 11 years old. One a Jap 99 which he had taken the firing pin spring out of so no one could hurt themselves (took me ten minutes at the Western Auto Store to fine a spring that would work), and the second, a Stevens Crack Shot #26 with no firing pin and no front sight. I took it along on our annual trip to northern Illinois (before IL became a Republik and when guns were O.K.) and the village blacksmith fittet it up with a front sight and firing pin he made out of key stock and drill rod. I have both today and try to shoot each one at least once a year. I found three boxes of Norma 7.7 brass and loaded them up with 150 grain .308 bullets and got keyholes on about every one. Then I did some reading and bought .312 diameter bullets and shrunk the groups from minute of notebook page to about three inches at one hundred yards. I was only twelve or so at the time.

For me, it was a Harrington & Richardson .22 revolver. It was inherited when my Grandfather passed away. Then, when I moved out of my Dad's house, he gave me his Ruger 10/22. The first that I purchased was a Jennings 9mm from a friend. BIG mistake. LOL

My first gun was a Remington 1100 youth 20ga when I was around 8 or so, and is now serving as my mother's HD shotgun. The first gun that I bought on my own was a Sig 228 which I still have and carry daily. Its one of the few guns I will never part with.

Winchester Model 69A .22 bolt action "repeater" rifle. Given to me by my Great Uncle. I still have it, and shoot it.

Summer of 2010. S&W M67 38 special. I had been shooting once; at an NRA Basic Pistol class, and wanted to do more of it. It was on consignment at the local LGS and it felt good to both the kid and me so I bought it. Since then I bought a used P226 and am now browsing for a carry gun. No hurry; I will know it when I hold it.

a pair of plinking/target pistols, Ruger mkIII (since modified and adjusted ... and duplicated, I got another so the Mrs and I wouldn't have to fight over it) and a Walther P22 (still around as a trainer for similarly laid out pistols, technically that one was for the wife, but I use it more these days)

Ruger 10/22 and a Ruger P89. Kept the 10/22. Dumped the P89 pretty soon there after and got a Sig. The rest ... is a story of addiction :D

Ruger 10/22 stainless. I put approx. 5000 rounds through that gun, it never lost its accuracy, and never jammed once, no matter what ammo I used in it. I still regret selling it to this day.

for me it was a Glock 17C back in 2002. Bought it knowing very little about guns and was my only gun I had until about 2009. Was only for HD and sat in a safe. Then decided to get my CCW/CHL, got more into shooting, and traded it to get a CZ 75B. Now I have 10 guns.

Star Firestar 9mm. First time I ever remember shooting a handgun was with an Uncle when I was 16, as soon as I turned 21 I went and bought one because when he died his mysteriously disappeared and I know his wife was not a gun person.

    Winchester 190

A friend of mine in college wanted to upgrade his bunny gun and sold, traded, or gave me his old Win 190. It was a great gun, but I'm left-eye dominant (my right eye lacks mobility and I couldn't drive if it weren't for my good left eye), and it burned my face when I shot it. So I only put about 5000 rounds through it, and sold it for $30 less than enough to buy a used Marlin 980S with a scope on it. Love that gun.

I've had one but I don't consider it my first. I bought my "first" in 05 and it was a springer 1911 GI in OD green. Loved it and shot maybe 5900 rounds before I deployed to Iraq in 06. My wife wasn't a convert then so I had to give it up. Since then I have 4 hand guns that I need to hide before I get to communist NY.

The first gun I ever received and kept was an AKM semiautomatic clone. I soon gave it back and purchased a better AK.

My dad gave me a 10/22 With a houge overmolded stock and houge fluted stainless target barrel when I graduated High School. I try to put at least 3000 rounds a year through it, and just got my best group ever a couple of weeks ago (with my dad no less). 9-shots in a sub half inch hole at 100 yards with aguila 60gr sss, I had to cut that target out and keep it.

My first "gun" was a Daisy lever action BB gun Grandpa gave me Christmas '91.

My first real gun is my HD gun, a blued Ruger 95DC. I've shot 1,507 rounds through it with no malfunctions.

My first gun was a Winchester 1200 12 Gauge. I took a hunter safety class as my parents required of me before I got a gun. It was $140, but my father paid for half of it.

I sort of inherited an old single shot Wards "Westernfield" 22RF in 1957 when I was 12 years old. It had belonged to my Grandfather and was the only remaining gun after my Grandmother gave the rest away. It accounted for my first Cotton-tail rabbit followed by countless others over the years. For the Christmas party at school we always drew names and could only give presents that cost 50 cents or less. A box of 22LR was 47 cents in those days and most of us boys traded drawn names so we got eachother's and then we each ended up with a box of shells. The box usually got us through the Christmas break.............until we got old enough to discover girls and then the "arrangement" ended. It still have the old Westernfield and shoot it once inawhile. Keep shootin'

A bit embarrassed to say, but my first real gun was a FIE Arminius HW7 22LR revolver bought from an Ace Hardware in 1988. Didn't know crap about real firearms from growing up in Chicago. I was pleasantly surprised when I was transferred out to the boonies and they had guns in a freakin' hardware store!!! Still have it and it's still in excellent condition after thousands of rounds through it. Kinda surprised 'cause they're suppose to be pot metal guns.
