One week ago (Feb. 23rd) I found a Uberti repro of a Remington 1875 revolver at a local gun store. It has a 5.5" barrel, color case hardened frame, it's in .45 Colt. It's used but in good condition with very minor scratches orbiting the cylinder. I have been looking for this model for a year and a half. I already have one nickel plated with 7.5" barrel. Quest fulfilled!!!!! EDIT: I just saw Usonia3's post #11473 above. Verrrry nice! Mine is very similar except mine has a short barrel. Nice gun Usonia3!!
#2 sister calls me. Her and her husband want a gun. Told her good luck because this is not the time to be gun shopping. Yesterday I visit a friends gun shop and there is an old good condition S&W M&P 38 Special, pre Model 10 gun. I ask Jimmy (owner) how much out the door? Mechanically sound, imitation stag grips not quite pretty but not ugly. We could call it a "house" gun and let it go at that. $300 and I said sold. I was going to loan my sister my really nice little Model 10 2" snubby but this solves that problem. While hanging out an older gent (hell at 71 I am not young) comes in with a S&W box. Super clean excellent Model 15 in box with all original papers. I had bought a Model 15 maybe 3 years ago we gifted to our son-in-law for Christmas. The above was the one we gifted. Today I will get the one I bought. Gent left and I was right on Jimmy. Told him I was patiently waiting. So I will loan my sister the old M&P and end up with a sweet Model 15 for me. Pictures of those later. I view the Model 15 as a Model 10 with adjustable sights. Just couldn't say no to myself. Son-in-law loves his. Ron
I just got this one in from PSA last week. Its a 10.5" in .223....AND a brace should be here anyday now and Over the next few weeks I'm planning on adding in some color accents to brake up the scary black gun look
I finally replaced my Glock 19’s with HK VP9’s. Bedside gun with can is the newest. The longslide with competition barrel is my carry piece until it warms up here.
Picked these up this week from the same seller. The Escort is essentially new. Seller says he fired 10 rounds to check new front sites he added, and put it away. The Trojan on the other hand, has some competition history, and it shows.
Just came back from the "Militaria" show. Bought a very clean and complete Model 1893 "Spanish" Mauser carbine (I think). It's the short barreled item and made that way. I cannot find any organizational markings (scrubbed?) and the only serial number shown is "X 0000". For my WWI rifle collection. If the receiver was scrubbed, it was a good job. Doesn't show any sign of 'scrubbing'. Nice rifle anyway.
A friend who is a collector is thinning his herd. I helped him by adopting a 1973 unfired Model 43 Airweight .22LR kitty. It is no longer unfired.
Ruger Hawkeye, 338 rcm. Also bought 250 pieces of brass, 120 rnds of Hornady ammo -- will keep me busy until the price of primers comes back to Earth. Fun, buying a rifle/cartridge that is no longer being made!
A Mossberg Patriot rifle in 450 Bushmaster. If the S&W revolvers posted above are considered the fine china of the firearms world, the Mossberg Patriot is the plastic fork.
Picked up a first year 1948 Marlin 336A Waffle top 30-30 with a Lyman Peep sight, must have been somebodies safe queen.
I found a Ruger Wrangler a couple weeks ago that followed me home. I think it's going to be a shooter.
Just took delivery on another half a gun...This one an unthreaded 5.5 blued Ruger MK IV upper, barrel only with sights, from Volquartsen. This one is designated to jump on the suppressor bandwagon with a cut and thread for a Super Shorty. Thinking on a cut to 2", which, when the suppressor is added, will screw the Dead Air Mask almost flush with the reciever.
A regular LGS I goto had a sale this weekend. All new S&W handguns were 30% off. So got a new Victory .22 for $350 and a SD9VE for $280. They had a range so fresh out of the box they were fired. Turns out the Victory was a huge lemon so far. First round fired but would not extract. Took a screwdriver to remove it, numerous times it would FTE and double feed at the same time.
Bought my first ever AR over Christmas. I have sold thousands of them when I was in the industry but never really had any desire to own one. Apparently it is actually a pistol since it has a 10.5 inch barrel and a brace thing on the stock. Guy I got it from paid about $1100 to put it together. Anyway I shot it and did like it. I put a mag thru it and so did my wife. It seemed accurate and had a decent trigger. Fun gun to shoot and not as loud(10.5 inch barrel) as I thought it would be. The red dot scope thing worked great. I then took my Norinco AK and shot a mag of it for the first time in forever. I still 100% without a doubt prefer the AK. But the AR will be a fun range toy a few times a year.
