Short version, a Savage 64f semi-auto .22LR with a few extra mags -
Long Version -
I probably made a mistake several years ago, had a Ruger 10/22 Target, stainless bull barrel, archangel stock, 4-16 x 50 scope, basically tricked out and fun to shoot for a .22 I had become interested in a HOWA 223 Varmint bolt action, heavy fluted barrel, etc. I tend to prefer bolt actions to SAs. In any case I had bought the Howa, and a friend commented on wanting the 10/22, and we came to a deal on price. I sold it to him.
Here I am many years later saying how come I don't I have an SA .22 rifle. I have bolt action .22s and 22 Mags, as well as rimfire pistols and revolvers, but no SA rifle.
Logic: I am not a mag dump fan, but, a semi-auto is a great tool for suppressing fire, to ensure the "killer rabbits" think twice about attacking our "castle". A full mag (or 4) of .22 from the wife, along with some 223/5.56 from the boy and some precision longer range action from Dad, should keep them at bay long enough for us to retrieve and prepare the "Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch" and count to three.
And, I wanted one for just plinking duty
