What is the last gun that you bought?

Don't know if I shared. Bought a French Berthier carbine (8mm Lebel) a couple months ago. Marked on receiver "Châtellerault" which seems to be the manufacturing site and Mdl 1892 seeming to be model number. It seem in decent shooting shape and fits into my WWI collection nicely. It is 'duffle' cut, and I will have to glue a thin section of wood in the gap. Not to conceal the cut, but to ease handling and dismantling. It's a three shooter action.

I am a fan of the No. 1. This is gorgeous. I do have a No. 1 in 450/400 Nitro Express 3 inch. It kicks like a huge mule on PCP. I have a nickel says this one recoils more. Do not shot from a bench rest. Use a standing rest. Shooting jacket with pad would not be amiss.
Neat! Those old African Safari cartridges are really cool to read about, look at and shoot, and the No.1 is one beautiful rifle from muzzle to buttplate!

I may be mistaken, but wasn’t the .458 Win designed to emulate the .450/.400 performance in a bolt gun? I thought I read that somewhere.

Stay safe.

I remember reading something on the subject. I cannot remember all the details but there was a wildcat cartridge, I think along the lines of a .375 H&H, necked up to .45 caliber. Winchester (according to the story) shortened it a bit so it would operate in the large extant Winchester action and called it the Winchester Magnum.

Regardless of the derivation, development or origin, the .458 WM was designed to be a bolt gun substitute for African type large game. That goal seems to be reached.

Really didn't need this, but when has "not needing" ever stopped any of us? Already have three Mossbergs ( 590 12ga, 500 20ga & 500 410ga ), but none of those have wood furniture. The price was low enough, I thought it might be a typo. So "Yay" another Mossberg 500 12ga.

Why do I have to press one for English when you’re just going to transfer me to someone I can't understand anyway?

NIB Bersa Thunder Plus w/15+1 capacity. Had been looking for one for a couple of years. LGS couldn’t order one and every place I frequent locally and on line were out of stock.

One thing I don’t like about Bersa is they only provide one magazine. With the exception of the .22 LR they are hard to find but not impossible.

I got two rifles recently (within the last 4 months): one is an FN30 in 8mm, sold to some Chinese warlord, and (by the time it got to America) fitted with a ZB bolt (which runs smoothly and gauges as safe); the other is a Mauser M1895 in 7mm, with (shockingly) a complete sight slider (which many 1895 Mausers seem to lack). I threw cheapish modern repro slings on them for these photos!

Have a happy new year!

Stopped by the local pawn/gun shop a couple weeks ago, I was in a hurry but wanted to see if they had anything new or interesting before Xmas, was scanning the rifles behind the counter and saw a bullseye stock, hmmm...look a little higher...bolt action...look a little higher...tube fed...tag hanging from the tube it said 22LR...now I don’t need another 22lr...but, it's a WALNUT stock and I really like walnut stocks...so, I ask to see it, I have it in my hands, the walnut feels and looks awesome, took a quick look at the bluing, it in very nice shape but that WALNUT stock is just beautiful. Well by now I'm drooling all over that beautiful WALNUT stock...have I told you how much I like WALNUT wood on my guns...I really like WALNUT WOOD. I negotiated them down some, probably could have got them down more but they saw me drooling all over the stock, gave them a Benjamin to hold it till after Xmas. Went back last Thursday and picked that WALNUT stocked 22lr Marlin up and drooled all the way home.
To make this long drooling story shorter, I was checking it all out after I got it home, found out I got bamboozled again, I was looking at the beautiful WALNUT stock and drooling so much I overlooked the fact it was a 22MAG, I feel so ashamed of my inability to focus on details :D but not really:)
