I recently acquired a Winchester Model 94 made in 1949. I asked my local gun guys if they thought it trusty worthy enough for a few deer hunts. They responded in the affirmative, Thinking about it I recall having shot a few vintage WWI rifles just for the fun of it - bolt action 06’s. Pistol wise it would have been a Nazi WWII Luger. What is the oldest gun you have shot?

My Podewils-Lindner was made in 1852. After a thorough going over and learning to make the nitrated paper cartridges I have fired about 20 cartridges through it. It is one of the first breech loading military weapons and used a musket cap for ignition. It passed through history about the same time as the Dreyse Needle Gun but didn't get used quite as long. Probably because it was on the losing side of the Franco-Prussian war.

The oldest I have fired is an 1884 manufactured Trapdoor,

the next is an M71/84 Mauser made at Spandau in 1888 in 11mm Mauser. The rifle was issued to the 59 RR 105(Prussian Reserve Infantry).

I have no idea when this Martini Henry receiver was made.

I have zero plans to shoot this:

I fire all of these and more oldies but unfortunately not as often as I’d like.

Me, have a few Swiss Vetterli rilefes oldest is 1870 something. Coverted them to center fire, nice shooting rifles, would like to use one to get a whitetail one year,

Neighbor inherited a muzzle loader that had been in his family for generations gunsmith that checked it out estimated it was made 1780-1800 and converted into cap lock in 1850’s around 40 caliber I was a teenager and got to shoot it once

My 1876 made Russian Berdan II Carbine. the same year that Custer found that the Indians had superior Firepower via Winchester repeaters over the Calvary's Trapdoor Springfield's single shot...

Got .43 Spanish cases and fire formed them, then made some 70 grn BP loads, I don't remember the bullets weight off hand..... Been awhile.

My great grandfathers 20 ga. It's one of the hardware store specials made sometime in the late 1800's up to about 1920 with Damascus barrels. I hunted with this one a lot and killed a few squirrel, rabbit and quail with it until I learned that it probably wasn't a good idea to still be using Damascus barrels.

Dad's gun may be close it's a 12 ga made in Belgium in 1939. It's a WW-2 trophy gun that he mailed back from Germany in 1945.
