    It looks a lot like an SLR106cr with a fixed stock, muzzle brake, and a tech sight. How did they screw that up?

    They took the best ideas from the AKM, Galil, FAL and then...they let the engineers design it from the bottom up. Instead of taking a proven design and making tweaks.

    Having been to India, I've seen them deployed in the field. Interesting rifles for sure. It's a home brewed design, as mentioned it's a relative of the AK with some FAL influences (still issued to Indian forces).
