    After looking at the thread on the Ms. Magazine article, I started looking around on their site and found this picture on another article.

    It seems to be a pretty common picture on the internet, but it looks like a Lego or toy or maybe something homemade.

    Any ideas?

    I would say that it is a toy dart gun.

    Nerf gun (or nerf rip off) of some kind, the little V is to keep the dart straight. I've seen them laying around my house when my kids were younger.

    But then again, it could be an Marvin's early prototype Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator.
