For those days when you want to give everybody a little extra warning.

That isn't damascus steel. It's a finish. Far too regular. Damascus steel doesn't look like that.
If I remember right, it is indeed damascus steel. Not your common knifemaking material but a proprietary material and not cheap. We looked into using it for custom sixgun barrels, sleeved of course. Proved to be cost prohibitive.

Something I could still carry every day....44 New Vaquero in polished stainless, with some engraving. Maybe whip up some grips from a hunk of feathered crotch walnut I have lying around...

I'd like some form or fashion of heavily inscribed Colt SAA. Preferably with some silver inlay on bird's eye maple, or maybe stag or ram's horn grips.

My BBQ gun recently switched from a 6" Ruger GP100 to a stainless 5.5" Ruger Vaquero, so I'm making progress.

A what? Ya'll are talking about Sunday-go-to-meeting guns.
"...Caspian Damascus..." That isn't damascus steel. It's a finish. Far too regular. Damascus steel doesn't look like that.

Caspian Arms sells slides, hammers, triggers and grip safeties (and for a while they sold frames) made from solid Damascus steel ... its not some sort of finish, its honest to God Damascus steel from some forge in Europe ... they then hone and etch the steel to bring out the pattern, but its still a pattern inherent in the material not added as a finish.

And its not cheap ... MSRP on the slides (without sights or internal bits) is $800-900 (although Caspian has some slides on special for $600-700)

A shiny, engraved Colt 1911. It would of course be "cocked and locked," not just there for show. :D Equally as important is your carry rig. I like Western-style leather from Kirkpatrick, El Paso Saddlery, Alfonso's, et al. Any of these makers can make your holster and belt as plain or fancy as you want, only limited by your budget.

Colt 1911 in .38 Super, deep royal blue finish, checkered wood grips with the Colt medalions inset and just a little engraving on the top of the slide and some tastefull bordering. Set it in a reddish leather holster with an open top on a matching 1.5" wide belt with my 125th anniversary silver and gold plated Colt belt buckle.... Yes I've thought about this for a couple of years.

A S&W model 58 with a deep dark blue finish with a set of trooper grips with S&W medalions set into them add just a little engraving on the cylinder and around the rollmarks on the barrel. Set in a reddish leather holster, open top with a matching 1.5" wide belt, set off with a nice silver and gold plated S&W buckle.

A guys gotta have dreams.

I have always wanted to do a BBQ gun as a "tweaked glock" like hard chrome/ polish maybe some extra slide cuts. And then put it in a holster that is hard kydex that has some flair as well.

The pics below are examples of what I would want to start with for the glock

And for the Holster I want something like Caleb got from theHolstersite.com

I'd be happy with this............

With fossil mastodon ivory grips, natch.

This should be fun. I can drag out guns I got to fondle but weren't mine:cuss:.
.41 Mag, with an express front site, case hardened by Turnbull, put together, and finished by JRH Advanced Gunsmithing:

Jasons'(gunsmith at JRH: custom .500JRH on a Ruger. Reminds me of one
of the guns used in that B Movie with Megan Fox:

And, another JRH gun, Hellboy:

Another .500JRH, with a Barnes 275 Grain XTP around 1550 fps.

I also love this super Redhawk from JRH, in .500 Linebaugh:

Just enough scroll work for barby, but not so much it looks like a pimps gun.:D

Good reason for a Colt Custom Shop 38 Super in glossy stainless. Grips made of smooth grained buffalo horn.

Fully engraved Silver plated Colt SAA with a 5.5 inch barrel in 45 Colt with Ivory grips with my initials inlet in silver wire.

Really an engraved S&W 13 with a 3" barrel and Ivory grips.

Polished stainless CZ 75B in .40 S&W.

I will probably be awhile fulfilling this desire, because they only make 'em chambered in 9mm !

I know thread necromancy is bad. However, it is BBQ season and I saw this picture. Since I am slowly becoming a CZ fan boy I thought of this thread.

No, no, no. It is a European work of art transposed to metal and named "Imagination." :D

At least that is how CZ's European division pitches the gun. Too bad the engraved CZs are Euro sales only.

Craig, you have impeccable taste. That's one of the prettiest sixguns ever.

This is a close to a bbq gun as I have got so far.. Not quite full on bbq material IMO, but I still love it.
