I voted clone but that may be misleading. The guns are really only partly "purchased clones". I bought a 22 kit and a 23 kit with all clone parts (complete guns minus the frames & mags). My son 3D printed frames (i.e. home crafted in lieu of purchased clones). I also got 9mm conversion barrels. Everything about these guns is basic/economical stuff, not fancy/high end stuff. Some components did not work out so I ended up buying more stuff than I originally expected. However, I ended up happy with 3 barrels and 2 guns for probably less than $700.
My primary use for handguns is making holes in paper at no more than 10 yards. Small group sizes matter to me. In my quest for small group sizes, I shoot over 6k rounds of my cast bullet reloads a year. I shoot revolvers and single shots more than bottom feeders. When I do shoot a bottom feeder, 9mms are nice given that losing brass is not a concern. There is an abundance of easy to gather free replacement brass at the range.
For my primary use, my favorite is the 17/22 sized gun with the 9mm conversion barrel. I can not get smaller groups from any other comparable gun I shoot (bottom feeder or revolver in DA). The 40 barrel for this gun was lousy, but I am ok just using the 9mm conversion barrel for it.
A secondary appeal, is having a gun that would be effective for defensive use. This is more about just having the capability. I do not carry and I make no effort to "keep things ready" at home for "just in case". The 19/23 sized gun feels nice, but my groups with it are not great (with either 9mm or with 40). I will shoot it for practice mostly with 9mms (again - easy pickup brass), but would feel much more confident with the 40 for anything more serious. So this one with the 40 would get the nod as my favorite "Glock" pattern gun in this category.
