I liked it, but when I went to the movie I knew nothing about it to it I thought it was going to be a Willie Nelson movie about the invasion of Russia.. :)

So many movies, so little time.
True Grit w. John Wayne
Once Upon a Time in the West...Henry Fonda as the bad guy.
Any of the Eastwood spaghetti westerns
Tombstone.
The Magnificent Seven.

Added: I gotta say that I much enjoyed the western serials that we used to watch on Saturday when I was a kid. Hopalong Cassidy, Roy Rogers, Gene Autry......the ones with the lever guns that never had to be reloaded.

The Quick And The Dead, with Dennis Weaver, & Kate Capshaw, & The Quick And The Dead. with Russel Crowe, Sharon Stone, & Gene Hackman.
Lightning Jack, with Paul Hogan and Cuba Gooding Jr.
All of Eastwood's Westerns are special. They tell a story of normal people being exceptional.

The prop sale was overwhelming. Pallets upon pallets of trapdoors, leather goods, bayonets, lever rifles and crates of parts. I found two TDs with prop tags. A real SRC with the list of assignments on it and another dating back red badge of courage, Also bought a lot of TDs converted to Faux flinters, . One was a faux blunderbuss. Nabbed some rare boer sawbacks, a TD pistol and ammo crates full of TD and other period parts and movie leather. Think some had Bannermans and W stokes Kirk stenciled on crates, I only had $400 on me at the time and took a chance bidding on many lots. Only got lucky when some went for bathroom breaks or food. The big guys beat me out on all but the few things i got. All the handguns where long gone even before the auction, We heard it was the singer Mel Torme who got them all. Another California buyer got all the levers mostly shot out 92s and most of the faux flinters. I had to sell all but the 2 TDs, the td pistol and some of the leather and parts over the years, I only had $400 on me at the time and took a chance bidding on many lots. I still have a td from "1915?" birth of nation with a note from guy who was an extra. Still have bad dreams about only having $400!!!

Thanks for the great tale, I am always intrigue with these tags that are on these things,, I have seen similar prop walk throughs that link a prop to a movie... And I really wonder how accurate those can be.. I guess no one rented or used that in all the years that follow..

hey a few (or a lot of) photos would be appreciated also :) I will beg if you want :)

Currently in a move so remaining items are in deep storage in another state. I do have the bayo's and one TD here. . IIRC this was a private "invitation" auction at the studios warehouses in about 1985 (before camera phones and really regret it). Some sales are on the net and can be googled. I was told at the time that between the plastic duplication machines and liability issues most real firearms were being sold off. All the repair parts like locks, stocks and real leather stuff were sold off as well cause they were no needed/required maintenance. The duplication machines now can make anything, in color and can even simulate firing with a flash (bang dubbed in later). Reproduction guns from whee lock to aks now filling the need. If not too OT i acquired a repop (uberti) 1890 rem police in .357 reportedly used by Tom Berenger in "peacemakers" and later in some movie called "commanche". I only bring this up as the cyl was rebored for .45 "5 in one" blanks. Barrel left in .357. Both cylinder and barrel ruined (black powder blanks as most of the studio firearms had very bad bores -- i got lucky). Replaced both in .45acp and do have pics of it handy if allowed.. Lastly i wish i had a pics of the rows upon of faux flint TDs at a wholesalers after the auction and a pic of myself with the Late Clint Walker at show. He saw the faux TD flints and spent an hour with us telling what he remembered. I looked at some original Fess Parker/Davy Crockett scenes and most extras used these Faux flinters. Also in 3 stooges and many others.

Hey if a Faux rifle is good enough for the Stooges, it's good enough for those other Yahoos..

Many thanks for the extra time and details... enjoyed them alot.. Very very jealous, wish I was at the Auction just to see..

Timing.. Its everything..

I like several.
Tombstone
Open Range
Silverado
High Plains Drifter
The Long Riders
Once Upon a Time In The West
The Quick and the Dead (Sam Elliott)
Nearly all of John Wayne's westerns like El Dorado, Rio Bravo, Big Jake, etc.

I’m a big fan of westerns, especially spaghetti westerns. Though I love most of them my favorite would have to be The Good The Bad And The Ugly.
Shane is a true masterpiece. It is absolute perfection.

The event was last minute and i was on a buisness trip down in LA when i got an invite from a well known collector friend. Almost turned it down as i had low funds.

The faux flinters had the fake flint and jaws brazed onto the original hammer as they were mostly made of brass. . The fake frizzen (also Brass) was screwed onto the lock. If you see a TD lock with an extra hole that may be the reason. My memory is failing but i think I still have the TD "buffalo" rifle. IIRC it has a half stock and a place for a peep sight behind the tang. It also has a place for a Creedmore style sight probable used for a laying down shooting. It has the extra hole and a property number and was probably made by the studio (or stembridge) for a specific movie. May have a pic as i listed it for sale back when with no takers.

Hey i found some pics (amazed). First is the Buffalo Prop TD. I stand corrected as the fake frizzen was attached with 2 holes see pic. 20200213_143905.jpg 20200213_143912.jpg :last one is the rebuilt Tom Berenger 1890 with .45 acp cylinder and 7.5" barrel.

The link reminded me of another tidbit, Look closely at the link pic. That hole in the side of the receiver may be for the "flash" effect. If drilled thru barrel (like many) the rifle is ruined so heads up.

Very nice.. I always had a thing for the Hollywood Henrys...

Bonanza_duo-1024x780.jpg

The best part is they really made a later 1860 Henry Rifle with a loading Gates... Now that makes it tough to point at them on the screen and say now that's fake...

Saw just a few 94s all were SRC's. None like yours. May be 2 pallets of well worn 92's, all seen were shot out with blanks and looked like they were drug behind horses over gravel. May have been many "el Tigre" in the mix. Sold very high and not to me. The leather was amazing. a got a couple of Krag/ Early spring field scabbards, a few IW haversacks and one trapdoor scabbard which was on the "yellow ribbon" SRC.. Much of the other leather and cloth items were in bad shape. Like evert thing else i think much presale cherry picking went on.
