when the poo goes down. I plan on carrying my mossberg persuader, with Tac barrel loaded with 00 buck, my ruger p95 ( 9mm is a commmon common round and after I down a baddy I want his ammo). Out to the truck. My keltec sub 2000, again in 9mm is there waiting. i will then imediatly drive to the nearest safe zone, be it state police post, or army depot. if the **** has def hit the fan and things are falling to pieces, they both have a lot of toys there I can get my mitts on. There is no gun that is the mythical chuck norris on a stick solution, but something big, something, mean, and something that'll take a common ammo type.

honeslty, i live in a small, rural, off the map town. I'd probably just take my remington nylon 66 and a case of ammo. I could hit the hills and survive with that. plus with a scope, I could drop baddies before they ever knew i was around.

the nylon 66 is a logical answer because:

mine has a chrome receiver, which can be used to reflect light and signal help if needed.

has a hollow butt stock for use as a food container or water if needed

is a light light light gun.

is superbly reliable and accurate

uses cheap, common ammo.

I'm trying to be realistic. IF the SHTF and I had it,I'd carry a mini gun, but, in my setting, and possible threats that come to this area, my 22 will do.

I figure everyone should have that put aside just for natural emergencies.

But of course they don't because they think the government will take care of them.

In New Hampshire, whenever its about to snow, everyone rushes to the store like its some big unexpected thing. You would think they would prepare but nope, its the end of the world whenever it snows 12 inches.

id forsake all long guns, food and provisions and instead wield dual 9mm handguns in each hand, sunglasses on and go out in style hollywood style

It's a compact version, but no handgun I have is more accurate than my G-30. With the laser sight, it can be accurate out to several yards' distance. Then there's my M-4.

First of all, it looks like I need more gun shooting female neighbors.:scrutiny: I carry a Glock 27 all the time, so I guess that would be my "go to" gun when I'm out. In my home it would be my Glock 21sf &/or my Rem 870 tactical shotgun. If that doesn't stop them, then I will unleash my wife on them. She can nag even the most hardened criminal to death. I'm pretty sure she doesn't read this site... I hope.:uhoh:

If one is going to just hold up and defend their home then a long gun makes sense.
But if one is going to be on the move then concealed handguns are the way to go.

All the guys carrying rifles and shotguns while traveling cross country would probably be disarmed by the police or the military, or shot by locals who would see them as a threat.

For sure.:)
The last female neighbor I taught to shoot, a few months back, now has a J Frame 38, .357, 38 Derringer, 12 ga Pump shotgun and two ATI 92C pistols.
She isn't going to buy a AR because she figures on using one of mine.:D
She has the shotgun and ATI 9mm pistol handy for her "go to" guns.

Another lady that has only been into handguns two days can already almost max the Texas Concealed Carry qualification. And she likes the AR also.
I'm letting her shoot a lot of guns but she hasn't decided on what "go to" gun to get yet.
(can't show her face because I haven't asked her if I can use her picture yet)

Which ever one of these I grab first... they sit side by side at night in the bedstand...

That's how they grow them in TX. Ladies like their guns!

Well hell, might as well bring the mosin with the bayonet; that way I will have everything I need to survive in the wild in one package; protection, Kaaba stick, tent pole, pole vault, boat ore, extra firewood, war club, spoon... you name it.

Or Mini-14 tactical & sr40c.

It's a real toss up. leaning toward the mosin.

I love these SHTF scenarios. Ok, I'll play........
If I have time to prepare SHTF - my DPMS 308 AR and 10MM 1911 on my hip.
If it is SHTF while conceal carry - its my Glock Gen4 27.

Anything is better than nothing in a SHTF type situation (which years ago I wasn't sure I would see in my lifetime--now I'm sure of it at 45 but hope I'm wrong).

Although I have always subscribed to the theory of any gun is better than no gun, I would truly suggest that a handgun is not a SHTF gun. I think that constitutes a long gun of some sort but that's just my opinion.

-Cheers
