Saw this on a replica 1851 44 cal brass frame BP revolver that's listed on gunbroker. The date code is XX7 (1971), this stamp is located on the butt. Anyone have an idea who's the mfg/importer?

What a coincidence... I just got in a Griswold & Gunnison today that was purported to be a Pietta, but I don't think so. It's date code is for 1970 and it has essentially the same marking in the same place. From my limited amount of research, I believe we're looking at the "AVI" of "MAVI" for Mavi di Salvinelli who supposedly used the double-barrelled shotgun logo.

    Any other ideas?
