    Hi All
Normaly I would just use IMR 4895... But with things the way there are right now. I can't find any. So what would recomend for a replacement (If I could find that one). Will be shooting it out of an Fal, M1A, M1 and a soon to be converted K98.

    Thanks
    WB

A quick check of Midway USA shows only one comparable powder available that is a near cross to IMR4895, and that is accurate 2495. Not sure where you get you supplies but it is an excellent powder for the rifles that you listed. Accurate 2520 is a ball powder version of IMR4895, but not in stock at Midway, but maybe it's available locally for you.

    Link to that powder.

    Load charts at Accurate powders.

I'm using surplus WCC846(BLC-2) and Re-15 in addition to IMR4064 in my .308 loads.

The problem with threads like this is, you might not get the best choices for your application but you will get the favorite powder of the poster.

To replace IMR4895 you can use H4895 or Accurate's equivalent AA2495. You can also use the Camp Perry powder, AA2520 which is the ball powder equivalent of AA2495. (like said above) Those 4 powders are almost clones but for the load data which is not interchangeable. Of course you can use BL-C(2) or H335 (WC846 and WC844) or any of the other powders in that burn rate range when you can't find the one you like best. Even the new CFE223 can be used in the .308 but that's probably harder to find than 4895.

All of the powders listed above have been available locally. Honestly I've been all over the US the past month. Stopped at numerous places and no one has had the availability of powders or components that we've had in Nebraska. I've been able to walk into Cabelas, Scheels, Bass pro, LGS and get what I need. Sometimes I have to wait a couple of days but then it shows up. Primers too.

Around here CFE 223 and LeverRevolution powder have been readily available and always in stock as has been 748. 748 is a great choice but the other 2 would work fine.

I use Varget and BLC-2 with 125-169gr bullets, very good results in my bolt action 308 Win.

    Varget, BL-C(2) and WCC846, H335, AA2520 on top of 4198 and others.

I have been using mostly the WCC846 like Mobuck has though since I have a majority of it.

cycles my Imbel Fal flawlessly and also shoots pretty clean and accurate out of my bolt gun as well. the place where I have been getting it however is out of stock....just glad I have two 8 lb jugs of it. :(

I actually lucked into 5 Lbs of RL-15 recently. You just have to keep checking around and hope you see something in stock before it is gone. I have had no luck with other things, but RL-15 I found. Should have bought 10 lbs. :)

I have 15lbs on backorder with Brownell's, but I suspect it'll be 6-8 months at least 'til that order is filled along with Rem 7 1/2. LGS doesn't have either. Gunbroker prices are ridiculous. Have plenty of components to last me through all of this though. No complaints.

JJ PV's website must have been bombarded with orders. The only Hodgdon powders it's showing as of 12:27pm central time is muzzle loader stuff.

Still showing stock on my end. They announced it on FB this morning. I'm surprised they aren't sold out yet.

I have seen RL15, 17, 19, 22 and 25 at a local store last time I was there, still no 4350, CFE223, or 4064 though. I have all but given up on ever seeing Varget ever again and have been real stingy with what little I have left.

I have used, in my M1a's, AA2495, H4895, IMR 4895, IMR 3031, AA2520 (ball), N140, and IMR 4064. After developing loads with a chronograph all of these powders function the rifle without beating it up and are very accurate.

IMR 3031 is a little faster than IMR 4895 and is as fast as you should go. It also shoots well.

IMR 4064 is as slow as you should go.

Benchmark, Varget, RE15 are my choices. These days I buy whatever one of these I find since they will work in about all the rifle loads I shoot.
