The uncle of one of my close friends passed away. He had a rather large gun collection that will be auctioned as part of an estate sale, and this rifle is pictured with no info/description. I'm guessing a lot of folks here will be able to easily identify it. Any thoughts?

    That's a Japanese Arisaka.

    I'm not sure which variant.

Thanks! A whole list of European bolt-actions went through my mind, but it didn't even register to me that it was an Arisaka variant. Getting old, I guess!

I think it may be a Type 44 Carbine, missing its bayonet. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Definitely a Type 44 Arisaka missing the bayonet.
