If I feel sporty, I might get out the M70 in 257 Bob...
Hunting in GA and MI
Already drew first blood on a GA doe.
Back up gun will be a 450 Bushmaster AR I built (the one in my avatar pic).
Always a toss up of what to bring, 45/70, 44 mag, 45LC, All tried and true, wanted to do something different this year.
Too bad Ohio is straight wall only, would love to try out the new X Bolt I bought for a nilgai hunt, 300 Win mag. Yeah, overkill but dead is dead right?
100 yards would be a long shot where I hunt.
Opening day in two weeks, can't wait!
Good call on the vz-24. That’s what I took out for LAST year’s opener. This year I’ll miss the open on Saturday, but if it’s not raining it’ll be a Winchester m70 in .308. If it IS raining, probably a Mosin-Nagant in a plastic stock with a scope on it.
Started the Season with my 7mm-08. Buck ran about 30 yds. and piled up with his antlers tangled in a couple of pine saplings. Made it easy to spot him.
Will probably finish the season with either my 458 SOCOM or CVA Muzzleloader.
Is that 264 WM in a Ruger American a factory offering or did you debarred it? That’s a cartridge that has me interested except for the belt of course.
Re-barrel, its a swap barrel build.
Plan on giving them more chances soon and hopefully at least one of them being successful
Hunted with it last year and did not take a deer but a nice bobcat and an armadillo.
Most likely i will be unable to deer hunt, this season. But, what I carried would depend on what area I hunted.
If I walk the creek and hunt hunt creek bottom, is will carry the Marlin .30-30 and Blackhawk .44M
If I set up on the hollow, shots could be out to 350 yards. I will carry Rem M700 .260 Rem and Blackhawk .41M.
You can hunt deer with a .22 magnum where you are?
