I’m getting ready to get a picatinny rail for my Tikka M695. I’ll be selling the rings currently on the rifle, but don’t know the manufacturer. Anyone that can help ID these so I can post them correctly, much appreciated.

Well, I just pulled the trigger on a Near MFG picatinny rail after talking to the wife :);). I'll pair this with some
quality rings. I have another thread posted on this, so I'll head over there now. Thanks again.

As I looked at the photo above of my rings, it looks as if the ring is tilted forward. Based on the design of the clamps and ring, the base of the ring was not touching the top of the receiver. I think the bolt used to tighten the clamp could act as a hinge. The marks on the top of the receiver show contact points in the front and back of the ring, but not in the center. Leads me to believe that it was potentially rocking back and forth on recoil, especially if the bolts/rings/clamps are too soft. Never looked close enough and was, up until recently mostly ignorant about them. I've shot guns all my life, but until the last few years, wasn't very discerning. (Think Kelley's Heroes - "Oh man, I only ride ’em, I don’t know what makes ’em work." ) If it generally hit what I was aiming at, plus or minus minute of deer, I was good to go. Then I started to think longer range and have been trying to get there. I'm not there yet, but I'm learning.

Thanks to LoonWolf, new to me rings on my Remington Gamemaster with a Leupold Vari X IIc that I inherited from my Dad. Replaces old Weaver rings shown in the pic. Should those rings be thrown away as with the Milletts, or would someone benefit from getting them as a pay it forward? They look a little suspect as far as design, but I don’t think they ever failed my Dad as the Milletts failed me. I wouldn’t want to impart heartache on anyone.

The band weaver rings are actually pretty good, you got to know the proper way to install them but there just fine.
Good to know! Any takers in this thread, let me know. I’m in a Sako Collectors forum, and I noticed they have interest in old Sako rings for the sake of original authenticity. Maybe that’s another reason these will work for someone. Thanks again LoonWolf;).
