Nothing special (NPI) I'm sure but a friend wants to trade this for a rifle which means nothing to me so values aren't really an issue but I would like the definitive nomenclature for this .38 if I'm to keep it.

It's worn but tight in all the right ways so it'll make a nice long term plinker for me without concern for further wear. The serial number is C 384955

Smiths always seem to be a source of confusion for me so ID assistance is appreciated.

It's a pre-Model 10 Miitary & Police somebody put Target stocks on.

It was made between 1954 -1956 (C277555 - C402923).

Thanks RC.

Being un-pitted and tight I guess it's a keeper & shooter as it's not unusual.

My inclination was towards a basic Model 10 but as I said, S&Ws are often confusing to me.

Monster wood on it, huh?

Target grips, yes. Original equipment, no. Very common, yes. And, depending on the rifle a potentially lop-sided deal.
