This should be interesting to some of us.
What sidearms does you local and state law enforcement carry?
Are they issued or do they have to provide their own.
    In my area:
Louisiana State Police: Glock 17 G4, issued.
Livingston Sheriff Office and East Baton Rouge SO: Glocks, issued.
City Police Denham Springs and Baton Rouge : Glocks, issued.

Three different local departments here all have Glocks but I couldn’t tell you what model.

Unsure of the State Patrol. I would speculate Glock as well since Glock USA is in Smyrna GA.

One lonely Sig 226 in .40 S&W and Glock 22’s (mix of Gen 3 and 4, mostly 4) for the other dozen officers.

The Constable Deputy who provides security at our office is an older fellow with many years in LE and carries a highly polished stainless 1911.

I’ve seen Glock 22/23’s, Glock 21’s and I think Galatin might use the APX these days.

Local PD has gone from 92s to M&Ps to Glock 17s and apparently going to the Glock 45 after only 3 years with the 17s. All in 9mm. Local SO has been using Glock 17s as far as I know. I think State Trooper/Highway Patrol uses Glock 22s.

    Mostly Glock 17 around here.

Two cops I work with personally carry Springfield TRP 1911's.

All the Sheriffs and PD around here carry Glocks from what I see. And I believe they have the choice between 9mm and .45 ACP.

Sherrifs carry M&Ps, not sure of the exact model or caliber. Havent seen a Glock on a local LEOs belt in over a decade at least

The local Garda Security guys at the bank just replaced their M&Ps with FNs. Whatever model was competing with the P320 for the Army competition, I dont keep up on plastic guns, really.

They all look more or less the same to me....:D

I’m not a cop but I pay attention when I see one and what they carry. I mostly see Glocks it the communities around San Antonio and Austin, but I know SA PD went to S&W a few years ago. I do see some me of those models around from time to time.

I rarely (but have) seen a Sig 226/229 variant but last couple I saw were a while ago on constables (not really sure what their roles are other than serving subpoenas).

I've only seen Glocks in holsters around the state, 17s or 22s.

I'd rather be shot than have that back-up squirrel bite me. Every department should equip their officers with back-up squirrels to do what? Yep, that's right - take a bite out of crime!

Here in Montgomery (City and county) it appears to be glock of some sort. Back home in Gulfport MS it was "encouraged " to use glock 21. I have seen some signs p series, Smith and Wesson 3rd gens, and a FEW old timers carrying revolvers.

About 2/3 Glock with the remainder being a variety of s&w m&p’s, sigs, and one lonely Kimber 1911

Almost all of them carry the big G, and they have my Dad to thank for that; he got the Saint Paul (MN) PD to adopt the Glock 17. They were the first major PD to do so.

Rookies out of the academy always serve in the jail division first. I'm not really sure if they are department-issued, but once they transfer to the patrol division, they tend to carry Glocks. Our Sheriff also tends to recruit and employ veterans (especially of the USMC) as a large portion of their staff and they disproportionally make up the portion of staff that are sergeants, lieutenants and captains. In the patrol division, they almost universally carry custom 1911's. I don't know anything about the investigative division since they're generally not as visible to the public. So in other words, if affording anything special isn't practical or important to them: Glock; if it is: medium to high-end 1911's (ie. Dan Wesson, customized Colts, Wilson Combat, Les Baer, Ed Brown)

A sergeant around here would make a base salary just over $100,000. With overtime, retirement and medical benefits, total compensation is close to $200,000 according to the state's online records.

    Last I heard, the Florida Highway Patrol issued a Glock in .357 SiG (I can't remember the model, and I don't see that many troopers up close where I live.}

Most of the local LEO/LEAs carry Glock-something-or-others. Of those that don't, most of them also carry Glocks. ;)

Glocks. Standard issue for all the Agencies around here, local, state and federal
Gang bangers also have a preference, it seems, for Glocks.
