I was messing around today with a 7x57ai case and had some powder coated 44 bullets close by, got curious and cut the top off an Ackley case just were the shoulder started. Turns out the .430 fits perfect. Case has about .015 of taper from base to mouth. Case length is 1.790 so the state's with the straight wall restrictions may like it.

The overall length is about 2.225 and it fits in a ar-15 pretty well and even seems to feed out of the mag good. I'm sure someone came up with the same case but this one is mine lol

So what should I call it, I'll see what the H20 capacity is if anyone is interested.

Again sorry for the crap pictures, but gives you an idea. Top pic it's in a 10 round g3 pmag, the original 7x57ai case is on top and a 45/70 to compare.

How about the .44 Fairweather? Got a nice ring to it, and would probably make a fine deer cartridge chambered in a short, light bolt action carbine. Or maybe the .44 Hammer and stick it in an AR platform.

Mac
I have a type 99 arisaka I've wanted to make a 44auto mag but this maybe better. I think it would be nice on deer, I wonder if it was run through quick load what the fps would be. I do like the use of my last name 44 hammer sounds cool to. Maybe use my initials TWF lol.

I’ve been a 44mag and 429 Supermag for many years, and used to harbor dreams of making an AR compatible 44cal wildcat, but I have bigger fish to fry these days.

I had always intended to name mine the 429 Boss after the old Mustang engine.
I'd be afraid Ford would want there chunk of the pie lol, I'm a Ford fan tho.

I've always wanted to design my own cartridge, and have it available to the public, even if it's in the back of the a no name cartridge book. I have an idea for a modified 7rm case I'd like to make some day as well.

I really with I knew how to get a cartridge out there, hey if vortex can do it lol. Guess a reamer first then use it to make custom dies for send out fired case. But how to get it out there, wish I had the money to make that happen.
