Funny how a question like this devolves into a 'SHTF' scenario or 'last man left alive' nonsense.

He asked if you could only own one type. Period.

I can't conceal carry a rifle or shotgun. That leaves a handgun. It also serves as HD weapon, range plinker, competition gun and depending on barrel length and cartridge..hunter.

I have no doubt I could kill any bull with a 44 or 45 Colt sixgun.

I have no doubt me or my late daddy couldn't have either.

But it's much harder to hunt quail, pheasants, or rabbits on the farm for the table with a .45 Colt!

It's also much harder to kill rats in the grain bin or snakes in the chicken house without shooting holes in the cows on the other side of the fence.

I'd choose a combo gun, actually. A Baikal over / under 12 gauge / .30-06.

I have a 22 for that. 22 shot loads aren't that great, but work up close for pests. CB's work pretty well too. I can see the utility of a shotgun in many situations, I just dont seem to find myself in theose situations. I also haven't found myself in a situation that I could only have one gun, and am happy about that.

Thank the Lord here in Texas we don't/nor will we ever have to choose what kind of weapon we can own or use. Can even use a silencer to hunt with. God gave us the right to defend and provide for our families and neighbors--no liberal can take that right away. But if too many of us fail to stand up for our rights we most certainly will lose them.

I'm glad you're a proud Texan and that Texas has some awesome pro-gun lawmakers/laws, but the original post didn't say anything about liberals taking away your firearms.
