What is the most recent knife you bought?

Ordered one of these:

Spyder Paramilitary 2 DLT Trading Post exclusive in Cru-Wear and purple G10. In typical DLT fashion, ordered mine this morning and it's already shipped.

Surprisingly these are still available, so if you're quick on the draw, here's the link:

Before that, I came across my first Shaman at a brick and mortar store a few weeks ago, so it's been a Spyderco heavy month.

I’m totally unfamiliar with the steel on that pm 2. I have reading to do.

Here is Larrin Thomas' article on Cru-wear and a second one that shows some comparisons to other steels based on his testing. Basically, it's a fairly high toughness, semi-stainless, vanadium tool steel that Spyderco usually runs pretty hard, and folks seem to like its balance of properties.

A pair of Randalls. If memory serves (never guaranteed any more), Dad bought three. One for himself, one for my brother and one for me. Obviously, Dad's was the larger one. Mine went into dad's collection after I left for college, and I now have it back, along with his. Presumably, my brother still has his.

Sorry to hear about your Dad' condition. He had excellent taste in knives. My Dad's favorite knife was this Marble's hunting knife which he got sometime in the early '50s. He used it mainly at a Christmas tree lot he and his brother use to have during the holiday season. Many years later I found the knife in my Dad's garage, in desperate need of a serious makeover. It had been relegated to cutting twine for when he bundled up twigs and branches from around the back yard. I gave him a brand new Ontario U.S.A.F. Survival Knife for him to use while I worked on his old knife. Among other things the blade tip was broken off so I recontoured the blade a bit, cleaned up the leather washers, and polished the brass guard and the aluminum pommel. Even managed to somewhat put some new life to the original sheath.

I can't look at this knife and not think about all the great times I had with my Dad.

Thank you both, but no, he didn't. I love my dad, but he just bought whatever struck his fancy that day. He was a very busy man, so he never had time to research things like guns and knives for himself. If Nick the Knife-Friend said Kershaw made a good knife, Dad bought a Kershaw. But, as he used to say, even a blind hog finds a truffle once in a while.

Those do sound like great times, bannockburn. And the knife has good, honest wear on it. I like that.

The Hackman on the right.

And this 1890s mother of pearl sterling fruit knife the day before.

I didn't actually buy this. There's a group of guys on another knife forum that put together a box of Case knives, draw names to see who gets the box next. If you get drawn, when you get the box you take a knife or two and put something you like in the box, draw a name and pass it on. It's a lot of fun.

That's where this new in box Carbon Steel (not Chrome Vanadium) yellow delrin slim trapper came from. The photo does not do the fit and finish on this knife justice. It is just absolutely perfect. And a delightful knife to carry, Looking forward to getting some patina on the blade - naturally. None of the forced stuff for me. Feel free to call me a patina snob, because I am.

I replaced the trapper above with this CV amber bone copperhead. Fair trade I'd say.

That's so cool! On the Case forum we used to draw names and then you'd find out what the other liked and send him a (usually) Case knife. I got some neat knives this way. But I was making knives at the time and would give one of my small skinners every time and they were lined up hoping they'd get matched with me. Man that was fun.

Pocket fixed blade day!

Top one is the latest, got cart sniped on release at DLT Trading six times but managed to catch the top knife for a very reasonable price on the secondary market shortly thereafter. Vehement Knives Grunt 2.0 in satin "Tigerlypse" finish CPM154 with black canvas micarta handle scales over orange fiber liners.

Night Watch Knives in mirror-finish "War Wash" AEB-L with black linen micarta scales over blue fiber liners.

Tactical Pterodactyl Knives mid-size Raptor in Magnacut and natural micarta.

The first Spyderco I ever bought was a Delica back in the early '90s, with AUS8 steel and the plastic "clip" integrated into the scales (still have it). When I heard there was a configuration with a Wharncliffe blade, 20CV steel, and luxurious navy blue scales -- I hadda jump on it. :)

My photos don't do justice to the subtle richness of the scales. With the brightly polished pocket clip gleaming against the deep navy, I think this Delica starts encroaching on "gentleman's folder" territory (at least, to my very subjective eyes :D ).

A shout-out to @SteadyD and @Gtscotty for pointing me in the direction of this KnifeJoy offering... :)

I just modded the spine on mine. I did it by hand with bench stones and sand paper… it took a LONG time! I think I will reduce the spine a bit more still yet but for now it’s in the pocket.

Wow --nicely done, @SteadyD !

I much prefer your profile to the more ungainly look on the left! :)
As do I. 60 grit sand paper and about 2.5 hours will do the trick! I then chamfered the spine with a white stone from the Spyderco Sharpmaker. Turned out great !
