What would be a good bi-pod for a 24" AR MLOK?

I've been pleased with my Caldwell XLA 9" bipod. Its not the very best but its holding up well and is not too heavy and for $45 you likely cant beat it for others in the price range. Of course the more you spend the better quality you will get. Magpul makes one now, not sure what the collective opinion is on those just yet, harris is a no brainer but considerably more money and I actually prefer the quick detach on my Caldwell... If youre trying to keep cost in check youd probably be happy with the caldwell. I sometimes run mine on a 16" mid length with 15" mlok rail and it adds a nice counterweight to the front end of the AR and for firing off hand it is very stable and accurate. Im 6'3 200 lbs so the weight doesnt really bother me for limited use at the range playing around and I really like the versatility of a QD bipod...

I like a section of M-LOK/Picatinny rail on the handguard and then put a Larue/Harris quick attach bipod on that for a chassis rifle but it would work well on a long heavy AR.

The route I went on my AR was a Harris 9-13" swivel (I'm tall so a taller bipod tends to be more comfortable for me regardless of shooting position) with an ADM QD Picatinny adaptor and a Pod Lock. I used the farthest forward MLOK slot on the bottom to attach a 5 slot picatinny rail. Going the QD picatinny route let's me swap it between several rifles which is handy.

I also have one of the Caldwell bipods on my Savage Mark II. I like it for a 22 but the Caldwell feels much sturdier.

Is that a lock washer on the end of the barrel in addition to the nut and crush washer you're using to keep the brake timed?

No, just a crush washer. I think it's just the photo quality and the design of the muzzle device making it look that way (it's a Strike Industries J-Comp).

Atlas and Accu-Tac are excellent, not inexpensive but you'll be happy with them forever. I have both and no regrets.

If you are going to use it hard, or compete with it, it doesn't pay to go cheap.

Play toy, even a serious play toy? Sure, if something craps out on you it's no big deal.

Walmart used to sell Winchester branded Harris knock offs. I have three of them from 15-20yrs ago. I keep waiting for something to “crap out.” They’re more flexible than real Harris’s, but you’d have to have them on the bench side by side to tell. The 9” versions I even stamped with a W to be remind myself which is the fake, ‘cuz I can’t tell otherwise. Wanna say they were $19.99, maybe $25.99 when I bought them - at a time when Harris pods were $79.99-99.99. Killed hundreds of coyotes and thousands of prairie dogs over them. I always buy Harris or Atlas now, but I always remind myself - just a little - I’m paying at least some of that increase for nothing more then mental comfort.
